Job Context: Hindalco is the countrys largest aluminium producer. Extrusion is a versatile and cost-effective metal forming process. Because Hindalco has three plants in addition to fourth one in the construction phase the dies required at the plants are designed based on empirical knowledge and experience at their respective locations. As technology has evolved over time new innovation has led to improved performance and the markets demand for stringent quality products has compelled existing plants to upgrade their capabilities in terms of new die design and manufacturing setup with cutting-edge equipment. The die design and manufacturing cell will concentrate on practice standardization and technology transfer. It will concentrate on assisting the Plants in realizing their latent potential and mastering the die design concepts.
To achieve continuous development activities in the product and process the job necessitates critical die design and manufacturing via CAD system and Simulation. This must be accomplished through value addition in the design manufacture and repair of dies used to produce high-quality extruded products. The main aspect of the job would be to introduce innovative technologies at the plant in order to improve the teams productivity and efficiency.
Job Challenges: Upkeep all die designs in easily accessible way.
Implement new die design concepts.
Innovate the die design process for critical dies as die design is more art than science.
To be outfitted with world-class simulation software which will eventually reduce die trials across the entire extrusion plant.
Lowering the cost of die manufacturing providing standardization
To shorten the lead time for die design and product drawing
Have profile match software to match successful designs in the database and avoid duplication of previously developed profiles.
Preparing people for multi-skilled activities including product drawing
Interact with customers to understand and assist them with the end application.
To standardize design for all plants in terms of container size- This will ensure nearly equal quality from all plants.
Request processing for all plants and select the Press with the highest quality and productivity.
Continuous improvement through structured research and training methodology will improve domain expertise and ensure expert availability.
Create a strong group of die designers as a backup plan.
