Lead the Future of Automation at NEPEAN PowerNEPEAN Power is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Engineer to take a technical and leadership role within our growing Automation team. This position offers the rare opportunity to work handson with complex industrial control systems while guiding the capability and development of engineers and technicians across our operation.
Based at our Thornton facility you will play a pivotal role in ensuring NEPEAN Powers manufactured equipment meets the highest standards of safety quality and performanceacross both workshop and onsite environments.
What You Will Be DoingTechnical Leadership- Lead PLC SCADA HMI and VSD software development configuration and commissioning.
- Guide engineers and technicians through complex testing troubleshooting and commissioning tasks.
- Integrate new technologies and automation products into NEPEANs standard designs.
Engineering Management- Oversee engineering deliverables project progress and associated labour and cost.
- Allocate team resources in consultation with the Automation Manager.
- Provide mentoring coaching and technical support to team members.
- Maintain Engineering Management Systems (Jira Tempo etc.).
Standardisation & Improvement- Identify and drive standardisation across engineering documentation control systems and digital processes.
- Develop and improve engineering procedures templates and digital workflows.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement- Liaise directly with customers and internal teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Proactively identify customer requirements system improvements and optimisation opportunities.
Safety & Compliance- Apply SWMS risk assessments and WHS procedures in all engineering activities.
- Ensure all equipment meets NEPEAN Power QA and compliance standards.
- Report and follow up on workplace hazards promptly.
What You BringQualifications & Experience- Electrical trade or engineering qualification.
- 5 years of experience in industrial automation including PLC/SCADA development and commissioning.
- Strong experience faultfinding and testing complex control systems.
Technical & Professional Skills- Expertise in automation hardware PLCs VSDs HMI/SCADA and industrial communication systems.
- Strong organisational analytical and time management capabilities.
- Clear communication stakeholder engagement and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to mentor others and guide project delivery.
- Flexible approach with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- Highlevel computer literacy and familiarity with digital engineering tools.
