Key Responsibilities


Role Overview

As an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor youll gain real-world experience working alongside industry experts supporting a wide range of construction projects.

This apprenticeship blends office-based responsibilities with project exposure equipping you with the commercial analytical and problem-solving skills needed to manage costs effectively. With structured mentorship and professional development youll be on the path to becoming a fully qualified Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS).

At RLB we are proud to partner with the University College of Estate Management (UCEM) to deliver the Quantity Surveying Degree Apprenticeship. This structured programme combines academic learning with practical experience leading to a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying and the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Role Responsibilities

Cost Estimation & Budgeting:

  • Assist in preparing cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
  • Support cost planning exercises helping to ensure projects are delivered within financial constraints.
Procurement & Contract Management:

  • Learn about procurement processes and contract administration.
  • Assist in preparing tender documents and evaluating contractor bids.
Financial Reporting & Risk Management:

  • Support the preparation of cost reports identifying financial risks and opportunities.
  • Learn how to track and manage project expenditure ensuring value for money.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with clients contractors and colleagues to ensure cost-effective project delivery.
  • Develop strong communication and negotiation skills to support commercial decision-making.
