Provides support to the Executive Director ofthe Inmate Grievance Office assuming primary responsibility for thepreliminary review phase of the inmate grievance process and developing andmaintaining management information systems to provide meaningful feedbackconcerning inmate grievances internally and to correctional administrators.
Provides additional support to the ExecutiveDirector by managing certain routine functions of the agency and supervisingagency the absence of the Executive Director this position respondsto the needs of the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of DPSCS.
Develops and implements program research andmanagement information systems to provide useful feedback internally to theAgency and externally to correctional administrators. Monitors the IGO CaseTracking System and its use by Agency the Executive Director in maintaining and analyzing statistics for theManaging For Results program.
As a designee of the Executive Directorexercises the authority to make final administrativedecisions dismissing appropriate inmategrievances as without merit subject to judicial review. Recommends thatappropriate inmate grievances be referred to the Office of AdministrativeHearings for hearing. Exercises judgment in identifying appropriate grievancesfor possible resolution prior to hearing and works closely with correctionaladministrators to achieve resolution of appropriate grievances prior tohearing.
Education: Bachelorsdegree from an accredited college or university in public administrationcriminal justice business administration law or a related field.
Experience: Have at least five (5) years of professional experience in publicadministration corrections legal review grievance administration or arelated governmental environment.
