Description

Position Summary:

The Manager of Risk Management oversees Treelines health and risk management program. This person under the guidance and direction of the Director of Risk Management collaborates with field operations personnel and team members to actively minimize risk and provide safe working conditions for all team members. The Manager of Risk Management works with their Director and Human Resources to recruit orient and train Class A and B CDL drivers. The Manager of Risk Management also meets with all new hires and reviews Treelines Risk Management Policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to developing and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Maintain personal safety and watch out for the safety of others.
  • Comply with all OSHA and FMCSA safety guidelines.
  • Communicate with team members contractors business affiliates insurance companies customers a positive and collaborative manner.
  • Communicate both effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person on the telephone through email and via two-way radio.
  • Consistently maintain a positive and problem-solving attitude.
  • Understand and adhere to Treelines employment handbook.
  • Ensure job descriptions and job safety analyses are appropriate and current.
  • Perform incident investigations to determine root causes.
  • Complete incident reports and ensure proper follow-up.
  • Be the primary contact person to receive property damage reports perform accident investigations keep all documentation of event communicate with Treelines insurance company and follow-up as needed to avoid repeat events.
  • Perform facility and jobsite inspections to ensure safety performance and compliance.
  • Work to attain and maintain SHARP certification through the support of Safety Works.
  • Generate routine off highway fuel consumption reports
  • Collaborate with managers/supervisors to assist with hazard and risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Work with Director to maintain update and implement current and additional safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with and provide support to all department managers and team members to help attain and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Attend Forest Product Group Trust Professional Logging Contractors of Northeast Acadia Insurance and other related safety meetings and ensure proper follow-up.
  • Lead monthly safety team meetings within Treeline and support managers in establishing a routine of holding a minimum of one safety meeting a month with their respective teams.
  • Lead in-house safety trainings.
  • Assist in safety orientation of new recruits regarding Treelines health and risk management policies and practices.
  • Assist the Director of Risk Management and HR in establishing more robust risk management policies and procedures.
  • Conduct routine safety observations
  • Manage on-board camera and Telematics systems and assist in establishing a Driver Reward Program.
  • Routinely coach drivers on poor driving.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources maintain driver compliance regarding valid licensure violations DOT physicals annual MVR and Clearing House checks and other related duties.
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Minimum 35 years of related experience preferably in transportation field.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Possess excellent positive communications skills through telephone email and in-person visits with team members customers and other professionals.
  • Must be results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to change plans on the go.
  • Possess computer keyboard skills and/ or ability to learn through training.
