Team Description

The team is part of the Non-Financial Risk (NFR) domain within the CRO function. Professionals in this team focus on identifying managing measuring and mitigating risks related to Third- and Intragroup Party Management (TIPM) and Operational Resilience & Business Continuity Management (OpRes/BCM). The teams purpose is to set policies perform oversight and support the NFR domain in managing these specialized risk areas ensuring INGs operational resilience and compliance with regulatory standards.

Specific Function

This role leads two specialized Centers of Expertise (CoEs) within Operational Risk Management (ORM): CoE TIPM and CoE OpRes/BCM. The teams support the broader NFR domain by:

  • Setting and maintaining policies and procedures for TIPM and OpRes/BCM.

  • Monitoring and overseeing business lines and entities.

  • Identifying and reporting risks.

  • Providing input for quarterly NFRD messages.

  • Initiating and supporting deep-dives and reviews. The function serves as a key link between the NFR domain and 1LoD control standard owners challenging the design and implementation of control standards metrics and thresholds. The teams are based in Amsterdam and Bucharest with a global scope.

Job Description

As Lead of CoE OpRes/BCM & CoE TIPM you will oversee expert teams in Third- and Intragroup Party Management and Operational Resilience & Business Continuity Management you guide their work on key risk areas ensuring robust policies procedures and templates are developed and maintained. You represent the Non-Financial Risk domain in governance forums and senior stakeholder meetings advocating for effective risk management. Your responsibilities include ensuring operational risks are identified registered and reported supporting thematic reviews and embedding risk policies throughout the organization. You also manage and develop your teams fostering high performance and engagement. This role is essential for INGs ability to address non-financial risks and maintain operational resilience in a rapidly evolving risk environment.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead develop and manage two CoEs (TIPM and OpRes/BCM) across Amsterdam and Bucharest.

  • Develop and maintain TIPM and OpRes/BCM-related policies procedures and templates.

  • Represent NFR in governance forums and senior stakeholder discussions.

  • Oversee identification registration and reporting of all material risks related to TIPM and OpRes/BCM across business lines and entities.

  • Initiate and support deep-dives and reviews on operational risks.

  • Ensure effective rollout and embeddedness of policies including training and gap analysis.

  • Manage team performance engagement and development.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g. Group ODCR heads local ORM heads Procurement ING Hubs) and external parties (e.g. ECB DNB ORX).

  • Participate in relevant management teams and expert committees.

Specific Knowledge and Experience

  • Masters degree in Economics Econometrics Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in non-financial risk management or related field preferably in banking

  • Strong understanding of operational and non-financial risk management in banking.

  • Solid knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g. DORA Outsourcing).

  • Experience managing cross-country teams.

  • Strong analytical problem-solving and delivery skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work across geographies.
