Job Summary

The Principal Payer Contracting serves as a strategic leader responsible for overseeing contract administration document governance and payer contract execution across the organization. This role drives the translation of complex negotiations into structured contract language ensures accuracy and compliance in contract documentation and delivers actionable contract insights to leadership.

The position plays a critical role in supporting payer strategy enabling operational execution and strengthening internal processes through the development of tools reporting and scalable workflows. Additionally this role provides leadership and oversight to contracting administration functions ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and regulatory requirements.

What Youll Do


Contract Administration & Execution
  • Lead end-to-end contract administration processes including document control redlining and finalization of payer agreements
  • Translate negotiation terms and business requirements into accurate and enforceable contract language
  • Collaborate directly with payer representatives to support and advance contract negotiations as directed by lead negotiators.
  • Maintain clear records of contract changes and payer decisions.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to review validate and approve contract provisions
  • Ensure timely routing execution and storage of finalized agreements in accordance with organizational standards
Contract Analysis & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain tools (e.g. dashboards trackers summaries) to provide leadership with visibility into contract performance and key terms
  • Analyze contract data to support decision-making identify trends and highlight financial or operational risks
  • Support payer strategy by ensuring contract terms align with reimbursement models and organizational objectives
Leadership & Operational Excellence
  • Define and influence key performance indicators (KPIs) related to contract turnaround time quality and compliance in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance standardization efficiency and scalability across contract workflows
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to ensure alignment with company policies regulatory requirements and internal controls
  • Partner with internal teams to support audit readiness including the organization and validation of contract documentation and payer correspondence
  • Analyze and surface payer performance trends (e.g. delays denials discrepancies tied to contract terms) and provide actionable insights to stakeholders
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex contract interpretation issues collaborating with internal partners to drive resolution

Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration Healthcare Administration or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8 years of experience in payer contracting network management or managed care environments
  • Demonstrated experience supporting contract negotiations administration and execution
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of managed care contracting including capitation reimbursement methodologies and payer contract structures
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex contract language and financial implications
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and document management capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook Teams)
  • Ability to operate independently while exercising sound judgment and decision-making

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions


  • Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where the expectation is to work both in office and at home on a weekly office days will alternate between offices at 600 City Parkway West Orange CA 92868 and 1600 Corporate Center Dr Monterey Park CA 91754.
  • The total compensation target pay range for this role is: $110000 - $140000. Actual compensation will be determined based on geographic location (current or future) experience and other job-related factors.
