POSITION GOAL:
Serve as the chief executive officer. Direct research planning and developmentof programs and services deemed essential by partner school districts and the community. Administer the effective use of staff and financial resources. Keep the ISD Board of Education informed about emerging issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA in Education.
- 30 Graduate hours in Education Administration or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an ISD administrator district-wide K-12 administrator or superintendent.
- Academic preparation and experience in educational administration curriculum and instruction and school finance.
- Documentation of a clear criminal record.
- Meet all mandated health requirements (e.g. a negative tuberculosis test etc.).
- Respect personal privacy.
- Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Accept personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.
- Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s) certificate(s) approval(s) etc. and provide documentation to the business office before expiration date of said document(s).
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day.
- Must have regular and reliable job attendance performance and the physical ability to do the job.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the ISD boards professional adviser. Prepare meeting agendas.
- Provide information and recommendations on all issues considered by the board.
- Evaluate the ongoing relevance of governing board policies. Develop and/or update administrative procedures. Enforce all applicable local state and federal laws.
- Administer adopted board policies. Use personal discretion to address emergency situations not covered by board policy. Report actions undertaken.
- Direct the planning and implementation of a continuous improvement plan/ strategic plan.
- Established performance goals and a strategy to accomplish approved objectives within specified time lines.
- Strengthen partnerships to collaborate with local school districts organizations and the community to identify develop and implement innovative programs and/ or services.
- Pursue funding opportunities. Supervise the preparation of grant and foundation applications.
- Administer the effective provision of ISD programs and services.
- Operate with fiscal prudence and collaborate with the business manager to prepare an annual budget/appropriations measure.
- Work with the ISD Board local school districts and the community to maintain a strong commitment of financial support.
- Oversee the preparation of an annual report and a calendar.
- Maintain visibility. Carry out a public relations program that promotes positive image and understanding of the ISDs mission philosophy and vision.
- Build community partnerships that enhance ISDs programs and services.
- Facilitate close working relationships and serve as the board liaison for the local schools institutions community organizations and residents.
- Provide staff leadership. Develop action plans. Help resolve problems maintain open and effective communication with board members staff and community.
- Collaborates with the business manager to oversee human resource functions.
- Administer contracts demotions transfers non-renewals and termination processes.
- Provide opportunities for staff to improve performance and develop new skills.
- Collaborate with the business manager to formulate salary schedules and benefit package recommendations.
- Direct the negotiation process with employee bargaining units.
- Provide information to the media.
- Provide guidance communicate high expectations and show an active interest in the progress and success of local schools and community organizations.
- Implement safety procedures to protect ISD property and help ensure the health and well being of students staff and visitors. Update emergency preparedness plans.
- Oversee the timely submission of reports records and inventories. Maintain ISD records for the maximum period mandated by law and/or board policy.
- Report evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
- Support and participate in partner school and community activities as time permits.
- Participate in local state and national activities that advance ISD goals.
- Participate in professional growth opportunities.
- Strive to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others.
- Perform other specific job-related duties as directed by the ISD Board of Education.
- Direct supervise and evaluate staff as authorized by board policy administrative regulations and contractual agreements. Assume responsibility for the results of duties delegated to staff.
- Facilitate various internal meetings.
