POSITION SUMMARY
The Summer Assistant Teacher works collaboratively with Summer Program Assistant Teachers Teachers and Coordinators to support the success of the Summer Program. This role helps strengthen the overall quality of programming by leading a group of students through daily schedules implementing and facilitating curriculum activities and delegate tasks needed by Aides. This position is dedicated to deliver Framingham Public Schools high expectations for achievement equal access to high levels of instruction the achievement of academic proficiency for all students and the closing of theopportunity gap among subgroups within the schools.

- To complete one on one check-ins with individual students.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students assistant teachers parents and coordinators.
- To use creativity to assist students in specific crafts and activities.
- To communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff parents and the general public.
Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills to evaluate situations and determine or recommend appropriate courses of action.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Collaborate with the Coordinator to develop high-quality after-school programming.
- Monitor student attendance and academic progress.
- Assist team members in ensuring a safe productive and efficient program for staff and students.
- Prepare incident reports when necessary.
- Implement high-quality academic and enrichment curriculum and activities.
- Motivate students to set and achieve challenging academic and personal objectives.
- Maintain open communication with families colleagues and school staff to aid student development and uphold high expectations.
- Provide avenues for students to strengthen the link between academic success college and career pathways.
- Foster a culture of accomplishment.
- Cultivate and utilize relationships with students families volunteers peers and the school community.
- Support event logistics related to the program.
- Facilitate students success in inclusion programming.
Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

- May be required to work at multiple schools.
- Must be able to move about and traverse throughout the school building.
- Must often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time.
- It is occasionally required to reach sit stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
- Is expected to lift at least 20 lbs (i.e. books school supplies etc.).
- Must frequently use hands to finger handle or feel and use hand strength to grasp tools.
- Must be able to assist students who have physical difficulties.
- Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Must communicate effectively with students parents and staff in person via email and on the telephone.
- Must be able to see and hear continuously to ensure student safety and provide instruction.
- Must be able to assist students who have physical difficulties.
- May be required to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces.
- Must interact with students parents and staff and meet multiple demands.
- While most of the workday is spent inside must spend time outdoors for recess and special activities.
- May be exposed to bodily fluids disease or pathogens.
- May receive injuries from aggressive students.
- May require physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling behavior.

This is a seasonal position for our Summer program(s) for the month of July. Must be available to attend mandatory Summer program orientation days.
Covered under FraminghamSchool Committee Contract. The District reserves the right to transfer personnel as needed.
