Role Summary
The Software Engineer Lead will own and drive major corporate platform initiativesmodernizing and enhancing core enterprise systemsmigrating platforms and workloads andconsolidating tools/technology stacksto improve reliability security scalability and cost-efficiency.Working with the Heads of Corporate Platform teams and the functional business owners you will lead technical delivery end-to-end: architecture execution qualityandoperational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Delivery
Lead the technical strategy and execution forplatform enhancement migration and consolidationprograms (e.g. application rationalization shared services adoption legacy retirement).
Own end-to-end delivery:requirementsdiscovery solution design implementation testing cutover and post-migration stabilization.
Set engineering direction throughreference architectures patterns standards and guardrails(performance resiliency observability security).
Drive technical decision-making with a bias formeasurable outcomes(availability latency cost deployment frequency incident reduction).
Architecture Modernization and Consolidation
Design solutions toreduce duplicationacross corporate systems including consolidation of services data stores CI/CD pipelines and operational tooling.
Guidemodernization efforts such asservice decomposition API standardization event-driven patterns and cloud/platform adoption whereappropriate.
Lead integration strategies across identity access data and enterprise applications.
Migration & Cutover Excellence
Define migration approaches (rehostreplatform refactor) andexecute withminimal downtime and risk.
Create and runcutover plans including rollback strategies runbooks verification checklists and stakeholder communications.
Manage data migration planning: mapping transformation validation reconciliation and retention/compliance considerations.
Engineering Management (Technical Lead Scope)
Lead a team of engineers (directly or matrixed):providetechnical guidance unblock delivery and uphold high engineering standards.
Own code quality practices: design reviews code reviews test strategy and technical documentation.
Mentorengineers;build a culture of accountability continuous improvement and operational ownership.
Reliability Security and Operations
Ensure production readiness
Partner with security and compliance to implementsecure-by-designpractices (threat modeling least privilege auditability secrets handling).
Drive post-launch improvements using operational insights: incident learnings performance bottlenecks and customer feedback.
Stakeholder & Program Collaboration
Partner withCorporate platform teamsproduct enterprise architecture infrastructure IT and business stakeholders to align roadmap scope and sequencing.
Translate business goals into technical plans; proactively manage risks dependencies anddeliverytradeoffs.
Communicate progress through concise status updates technical demos and executive-ready summaries.
Required Skills
Core Engineering
Strongproficiencyin one or more modern programming languages (e.g.Java C# Python Go TypeScript).
Deep experience buildingdistributed systems: APIs services asynchronous processing caching and data persistence.
Experience configuring and customizing SAAS applications.
Strong SDLC discipline: version control branching strategies testing pyramids and release management.
Platform Migration and Consolidation Expertise
Proven success leadinglarge-scale migrations(apps and/or data) including phased rollouts and zero/low-downtime strategies.
Hands-on experience withlegacy modernizationand platform consolidation (decommissioning dependency mapping migration waves).
Leadership & Communication
Strong technical writing: architecture docs ADRs runbooks operational readiness checklists.
Ability to influence without authority and drive alignment across multiple teams.
Pragmatic decision-making under constraints (timeline risk cost regulatory needs).
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degreein Computer Science Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
7 yearsof professional software engineering experience including2 yearsin a lead role (tech lead staff/lead engineer or engineering manager with hands-on delivery).
Demonstrated delivery ofenterprise-grade platform initiativesinvolving migration and/or consolidation with measurable outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leadingmulti-teamprograms with complex dependencies.
Experience with enterprise identity and access patterns (SSO RBAC) data governance and audit requirements.
Familiarity with domain-driven design event-drivenarchitectures and platform engineering practices.
Experience with cost optimization and FinOps-style practices in cloud environments.
Success Metrics (Example)
Migration/consolidation delivered on schedule withmeasured reductionsin operational cost and system complexity.
Improved reliability (e.g. fewer sev-1/2 incidents higher availability) and better delivery performance (deployment frequency/lead time).
Reduced technical debt through decommissioning legacy components andestablishingreusable platform capabilities.
Strong engineering health: high code quality clear documentation predictable releases and improved on-call outcomes.
Working Model / Collaboration
Works closely with:Enterprise Architecture Security Infrastructure/Platform SRE/Operations Product Management and Business Owners.
Mayparticipatein on-call escalation and operational reviews depending on platform criticality.
