Job Summary
School Caretaker Durham County Durham
Protecting and maintaining a pillar of the local community.
We are seeking a reliable and skilled School Caretaker to join a well-established secondary school in Durham. In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance security and cleanliness of the school site ensuring that our students and staff have a safe and welcoming environment in which to work and learn.

Location: Durham (Accessible via A1(M) and A690)
Salary:(Durham County Council Scale)
Contract: Full-time Permanent (Year-round)
Hours: Split shifts (e.g. 06:3010:30 and 14:3018:30)
Detailed Responsibilities
Site Security: Acting as a primary key holder responsible for the daily opening and securing of the school buildings and grounds.
General Maintenance: Carrying out first-line repairs and maintenance including plumbing joinery and painting as well as managing the schools heating and lighting systems.
Health & Safety: Performing regular safety checks including fire alarm testing water temperature monitoring (Legionella) and playground equipment inspections.
Porterage: Assisting with the movement of furniture and equipment for assemblies exams and school events.
