Portfolio Manager R&D

The Role

Are you passionate about driving global R&D alignment and ensuring world-class projects are delivered seamlessly across multiple sites Biotage is looking for a Portfolio Manager to coordinate and optimise our international R&D programmes enabling our scientists and engineers to focus on innovation while you provide clarity structure and strategic oversight.

This is a pivotal role where you will manage a diverse portfolio of initiatives from instrument development and software projects to global product transfers and analytical workflows across multiple sites. You will provide senior leadership with visibility into progress risks and resource planning and play a central role in shaping how Biotage delivers on its global R&D strategy.

This position requires regular/weekly travel to the Cambridge site and periodic travel to other Biotage locations worldwide.

What Youll Do

• Lead global project portfolio management prioritisation and resource allocation

• Develop and implement frameworks tools and best practices for R&D project governance

• Support teams with guidance training and performance monitoring to drive consistency and efficiency

• Align initiatives with strategic goals ensuring clear decision-making and accountability

• Monitor progress to ensure projects are delivered on time within scope and on budget

• Act as a central coordination point across sites breaking down silos and enabling smoother collaboration

What Were Looking For

• Proven experience in PMO leadership or project management in life sciences R&D

• Hands-on experience managing cross-functional instrument development projects (software projects highly desirable)

• Strong expertise in governance risk management and resource planning

• Excellent communication leadership and stakeholder-management skills across diverse multi-site teams

• Proficiency with project-management tools and methodologies

• Formal project-management training (PMP PRINCE2 or equivalent)

• Ability and enthusiasm to travel regularly and build relationships across multiple sites
