Our proprietary Axiomer RNA editing technology platform enables the editing of specific single nucleotides in RNA using the cells own editing machinery. Our R&D department is currently looking for an experienced (Associate) Scientist Bioinformatics (Full-time) to join our team in Leiden.
The (Associate) Scientist Bioinformatics will support the wet-lab scientist with generating insight-driven oligonucleotide design conduct research to devise improved (in silico) oligo design methods to accurately understand their structure interaction with the target and relevant biological properties. Furthermore the candidate will provide technical input for data mining analysis analysis of transcriptomics studies and execution and/or coordination of various bioinformatics projects.
Location: Leiden NL (on-site)
We expect our (Associate) Scientist Bioinformatics to have:
An advanced degree (PhD or equivalent) in bioinformatics or another relevant field preferably related to biochemistry or a MSc degree with relevant work experience (3-4 years) in academia or within the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry (preferred).
A biochemistry background with a clear focus on nucleic acid and/or protein folding enzymology and thermodynamics (must).
Solid understanding of the physical and biochemical principles underlying molecular interactions relevant to RNA-based therapeutics.
Experience in the field of genetic disorders and/or oligonucleotide-based therapies.
Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g. Python R) and Git. (must)
Practical knowledge of transcriptomics data analysis (RNA-seq) differential gene expression and/or RNA isoform analysis.
Experience with good data practice policies and exposure to open-source systems.
Experience with data mining analysis and system scalability is a plus.
Experience with setting up the relevant infrastructure (hardware software and other tools) is a plus.
