POSITION TITLE:Middle School Health and Physical Education teacher with coaching assignments Head Girls Basketball 7th Grade.
QUALIFICATIONS:Must hold proper certification through the Arkansas Department of
Education and Arkansas Activities Association for both positions
REPORTS TO:Principal assistant principals Athletic Director and/or Head Coaches
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 215 days with benefits provided according to Siloam Springs
School Board policies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work collaboratively with the content team (Professional Learning Community) and grade level interdisciplinary team.
- Implementa variety of effective research based instructional strategies consistently to engage learners with the essential learning standards.
- Design instructional plans with attention to individual student abilities and interests.
- Monitor and assess student progress frequently using both formative and summative assessments and provide progress reports as requested.
- Adjust instruction within the classroom (Tier I) to meet the needs of all learners re-teaching when needed and extending learning for others.
- Create a classroom environment that reflects respectful interactions between students and teachers as well as student to student while using effective procedures to support all learners.
- Refer students as needed for alternative services as provided by the District (ESL Special Education Gifted and Talented counseling health services etc.).
- Effectively implement district initiatives.
- Maintain consistent and timely parent communication using appropriate structures and resources.
- Meet or exceed professional responsibilities and professional behavior expectations.
ESSENTIAL COACHING FUNCTIONS:
- Display loyalty to the head coach principal athletic director and the Athletic Department.
- Supervise athletes and team assigned to him/ her.
- Help plan and supervise any special needs/events (awards night parent meeting community service etc.).
- Make suggestions and recommendations that will help the program.
- Teach and model good sportsmanship towards opponents officials and parents.
- Support and collaborate with staff in other athletic and academic programs to encourage students to participate in a variety of activities.
- Follow rules and regulations in the Siloam Springs Athletic Department Coaches and AAA Handbooks.
- Monitor the academic performance of team members.
- Help plan and conduct daily practices for the assigned team.
- Attend pre-season organizational meetings as assigned by the Athletic Director.
- Assist in organizing and running of invitational or AAA tournaments and regular season meets.
- Attend professional development activities and remain current to new coaching strategies.
- Attend all interscholastic contests for the assigned team (if an emergency or situation arises that would necessitate the absence of a coach the athletic director must be notified as soon as the situation is known).
- Other job responsibilities to be identified upon agreement of coaching assignments.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Maintain accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education and coaching.
- Other duties as assigned.
