Export Controls Trade Compliance Consultants

The Opportunity

Goal Group is seeking expressions of interest from Export Controls/Trade Compliance Practitioners/Specialists/Senior Specialists to join our vibrant and growing Export Controls team on current and upcoming Export Controls opportunities nationwide.

Your tasks will vary depending on your level of skill experience and the assignment (more experienced Export Controls Specialists may have a more strategic and/or leadership role). Your role may include but not be limited to:

• Staying abreast of changes to legislation being at the forefront of shaping and implementing AUKUS related export control changes in Australia US and UK.
• Providing expert advice to clients pertaining to Defence export controls policy export and import activities trade compliance oversight solutions and recommendations in facilitating import and export activities such as guidance on agreements licenses and permits as they relate to complex Defence capability programs ensuring that client project teams fully understand their access re-export and transfer obligations
• Development implementation and maintenance of Trade Compliance Frameworks; development or review of Trade Compliance Plans and related documents
• Risk and stakeholder management
• Advising on areas such as Dual/Third Country Nationals ITAR and Exemptions Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Intellectual Property MOUs NDAs Foreign Export Controls Disposals
• Data Management review/ consolidation and organisation of current client records or assisting with internal compliance reviews and audits; and conducting spot checks on processes and trade compliance data integrity and/or creation of audit/Compliance Check methodology
• Progressing Trade Compliance documentation such as applications and amendments to Technical Assistance Agreements Third Party Retransfers Licenses permits etc
• Preparing Export Controls policy updates reporting ie: non-compliance corrective actions and impacts
• Delivering ITC/EC training to stakeholders via both online and face to face methods
• Other related tasks as may be required.

About you

• You will have current experience in interpretation and implementation of government policy relating to International Trade Compliance/Export Controls within the Australian Defence industry
• Knowledge of Australian U.S. (ITAR EAR) and other Foreign Export Controls laws and experience in overall compliance with facilitating import and export activities in the Australian Defence environment
• Ideally hold or have the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) Security Clearance. Please note only Australian Citizens are eligible to obtain an Australian CoA Security Clearance
• Experience in delivering International Trade Compliance/Export Controls (ITAR) training to stakeholders is highly desirable
• Tertiary qualifications in international commerce Law economics policy or international relations will be highly regarded
• Ability to work independently but collaboratively as part of a team be it on-site hybrid or remotely depending on your location/ location of assignment.
• Be self-directed and client focused.
