Job Summary

Reports To: Director Auxiliary Programs Associate Director and Assistant Directors

The Auxiliary Programs Office is responsible for the design and implementation of a number of programs on both the Washington DC and Bethesda campuses including the Extended Day Programs after-school enrichment workshops (SPARC) Early Childhood Early Learning Center Fox Den School Store and Cafe Intra-Campus Shuttle Special event programs and Summer Programs.

The Extended Day Program Assistant position will have responsibilities working with students in the Middle School Extended Day program half day special events in addition to supporting enrichment workshops.

Key Responsibilities:

Extended Day Program

Plan and implement fun safe and engaging activities for participants during the Extended Day Program on the Washington DC campus. Hours for the program will be Mondays Wednesdays Thursdays and Fridays from 2:30 - 6:00 pm and Tuesdays from 1:30 6:00 pm. Daily responsibilities for Assistants:

  • Interact with children to support play exploration and learning
  • Plan and implement activities that meet the health and safety protocols
  • Meet the individual needs of each child
  • Participate in staff and training meetings
  • Present expectations that are appropriate to the childs age and developmental level
  • Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff
  • Build teamwork among staff

  • Ability to clearly communicate expectations
  • Ability to write email communications with parents

Organizational Skills

  • Must be multi-task oriented

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should be 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of 1-year related work experience
  • Experience/interest in working with children and families in a camp/after school environment

Additional qualifications include effective communication skills flexibility patience a sense of humor and a demonstrated love for working with young children and their families. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required; however if you are not CPR/AED certified you will have the opportunity to complete the course upon hire.

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate $18.00-$24.00. Hourly rate commensurate with experience and qualifications.
