Position Overview

Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a qualified Pathologist Assistant for an 11-week contract assignment within a high-volume Surgical Pathology Department at a leading academic medical center in New York NY. This role supports pathologists in the preparation examination and documentation of surgical specimens while maintaining strict quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens
Accurately describe dissect and submit tissue sections for histologic processing
Assist with frozen section preparation and intraoperative consultations
Ensure proper specimen handling labeling and documentation
Maintain compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulatory standards
Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives
Collaborate effectively with pathologists laboratory personnel and surgical teams
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the laboratory information system

Qualifications

New York State Licensure as a Pathologist Assistant (Required)
Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited Pathologists Assistant program
- OR equivalent program as determined by the NYS Education Department
- OR Bachelors or higher degree from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists Assistant program
03 years of related pathology experience (Required)
ASCP certification (Preferred)
Fellow of the American Association of Pathologists Assistants (Preferred)
Strong knowledge of surgical pathology procedures and laboratory standards
Excellent attention to detail organizational and communication skills
