Job Summary

Job Position Title: ElementaryEducationalAssistant (temporary full-time)

Reports to:Elementary SchoolPrincipal

Start Date: As soon as possible

End Date: June 30 2026

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Student Support

  • Provide individualized or small-group support to students as directed by the classroom teacher orPrincipal.
  • Support students with diverse learning needs including neurodiversity language learning and physical or developmental challenges.
  • Assiststudents with academic tasks organization and study skills.
  • Implement accommodations and strategies outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or student support plans.
  • Foster student independence confidence and self-advocacy.

Classroom Support

  • Assistthe classroom teacher with lesson delivery.
  • Support classroom management and student engagement strategies.
  • Helpmaintaina positive safe and respectful learning environment.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with teachers counselors andprincipalto support student success.
  • Participate in meetings related to student learning and well-being whenappropriate.
  • Communicate relevant observations about student progress or challenges to the classroom teacher orprincipal.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information at all times.

Student Well-Being and Inclusion

  • Support students social-emotional development and sense of belonging.
  • Model respectful inclusive and caring behaviour.
  • Assistwith behavior support plans when applicable.
  • Encourage positive peer interactions and relationship-building.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Post-secondary training in Education Special Education Child and Youth Care or a related field.
  • Experience working with children or youth in an educational or support setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience empathy and a student-centered approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of diverse learning needs and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Basic understanding of assistive technology or adaptive strategies.
