Job Summary
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Research and Development Lead on behalf of an exciting biotechnology start-up in Newcastle on a permanent basis.
Our client is an expanding business within the molecular diagnostics research and development space. They are pioneering nanotechnology with AI-driven innovation to deliver biosensing solutions.
Salary:
40000 - 45000 per annum
Location:
This is a full-time office base position in central Newcastle.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading engineering projects on behalf of the business. Successful applicants will have a strong mechanical and hardware engineering background to complement the existing electromechanical and electrical team.

About you:
To be considered for the role you will have the following skills and experience:
- Degree background in Mechanical Engineer or similar
- Industry experience in mechanical and hardware design within a start-up environment. Life Sciences Biotechnology or Medical Devices industries would be a strong advantage.
- Opto-mechanical design experience such as microscopy alignment lens cameras and imaging systems would be desirable.
- The ability to lead engineering projects and support team members to achieve overall project goals.
- Confidence working in a fast-paced start-up environment with a willingness involved in a variety of tasks.
