Duties and Responsibilities (* Denotes Essential Function)
* Advises and provides guidance to undergraduate students in the College to formulate and assess their interests and abilities referring students to appropriate faculty and campus resources to aid in examining their educational goals making decisions and developing short-term and long-term educational plans to meet their objectives.
* Evaluates and monitors student academic progress and the impact on achievement of goals including progress checks graduation checks and taking appropriate institutional action.
* Plans and implements the development of academic advising and services across the College.
* Participates in planning implementation management and assessment of retention-centered programs for undergraduate students including but not limited to arranging for experts and other campus resources to speak about recruitment admission orientation mentorship career development graduation and alumni relations.
* Participates in recruiting students at college and career fairs around the Island; possible evening weekend and off-campus assignments to accommodate potential student needs.
* Plans implements and participates in a wide range of student community-building events including College orientation.
* Prepares develops and presents informational sessions for small groups and large audiences including but not limited to undergraduate students prospective majors and families.
Participates in conferences annually if budget allows.
Participates in on-campus trainings on advising-related topics.
* Interprets defines and evaluates academic policies and procedures affected by curricular requirements and academic options.
* Develops reviews and maintains materials that communicate Student Academic Success services programs resources and important information through written communication and/or Social Media platforms to undergraduate students.
* Reviews make recommendations and modifies the design and delivery of academic and student affairs websites as they pertain to academic advising to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Serves on university committees and acts as a resource for departments.
* Collaborates with respective departments to coordinate the maintenance of accurate catalog entries and degree audits for undergraduate majors within the College.
* Trains and supervises staff including student assistants.
* Provides support for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Student Academic Success Center.

Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Analytical critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify and determine appropriate level of advising or referral services for individual students
Demonstrated ability to perform complex tasks and experience to independently initiate necessary action and coordinate many activities concurrently as well as establish priorities and see tasks to completion.
Demonstrated ability to use a variety of technology resources including but not limited to: word processing and spreadsheet software automated student information systems databases email web browsers and social media.
Masters degree in a Natural Sciences discipline education higher education advising counseling or a natural sciences field.
Experience working with a diverse student body and knowledge of their academic needs and concerns.
Working knowledge of post-secondary curricula academic requirements and policy.
Experience maintaining confidentiality of student records and knowledge of state and federal laws governing confidentially of student records and university policy regarding privacy of information.
Familiarity with Banner 9 student information system and Self Service Banner 9.
Familiar with EAB Navigate 360
Experience in the discipline of retention and student success-oriented program development in the University setting.
