Job Summary

Overview

The Psychologist I provides psychotherapy and clinical assessment in the Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress (CCFTS) treatment program. These children are primarily those who have experienced or may be at risk for trauma through physical abuse sexual abuse neglect domestic and community violence. The Psychologist I will assess these children along a continuum of screenings to full psychological evaluations. These are formal evaluations requiring psychometrically sound instruments in addition to clinical interviewing. Assessment areas include emotional cognitive achievement and developmental functioning of referred children. This position requires the ability to address the needs of this population. The Doctoral Level Psychologist may also participate in training research or other projects at the direction of the Director of Clinical Services.

Services for children and youth who have neurodevelopmental disabilities (i.e. autism intellectual disability genetic and chromosomal syndromes etc.) are central to Kennedy Kriegers mission. We are seeking applicants who have interest and experience with these populations to learn and apply cutting edge clinical interventions for posttraumatic stress.

Responsibilities

1. Provides psychotherapy to children through individual family or group modalities as appropriate.
2. Provides diagnostic intakes and psychological evaluations covering cognitive emotional and achievement functioning of referred children.
3. Participates in psychology staff meetings and CCFTS staff meetings to support ongoing program development.
4. Demonstrates the ability to work clinically with severely disturbed children by identifying and managing acute crises.
5. Collaborates with referring agencies the local social service department and the school system to assist them utilizing the evaluation/treatments service to develop an agency services plan for the child and family.
6. Maintains client activity at the projected level set by the department.
7. Maintains each clients medical record which may include psychological evaluations assessments and treatment plans progress notes reviews and discharge summaries.
8. May participate in the psychology training program and supervise externs interns or post-doctoral fellows when interest and capacity is demonstrated.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of an APA approved internship in clinical psychology.
Must hold and maintain CPR certification.

EDUCATION:
Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited college university or professional school and is licensed to practice psychology in the state of Maryland.

EXPERIENCE:
Must have had at least one years supervised post-doctoral experience in clinical psychological work with children preferably in a community or hospital setting with children who are traumatized severely emotionally disturbed or who have experienced abuse/neglect.
Must have clinical practice experience with marginalized communities and people of color.

Minimum pay range

USD $72770.26/Yr.

Maximum pay range

USD $129818.62/Yr.
