Job Summary

Herron Classical Schools seeks a Special Education Teacher of Record for the school year.


Job Responsibilities

1. Assist with the review of special education needs for incoming students.

2. Write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and maintain all required records as the teacher of record as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

3. Work with students receiving special education services and collaborate with faculty to ensure appropriate supports and instruction are provided in alignment with each students accommodations.

4. Collaborate directly with general education teachers to address classroom-based concerns and instructional needs.

5. Follow all Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and school guidelines related to the development and implementation of IEPs.

6. Assist with audits to ensure faculty adherence to student IEPs and the consistent provision of required accommodations.

7. Participate in case conferences and annual reviews including assisting with the compilation and maintenance of required documentation for student records.

8. Support compliance with Indiana laws related to student files services and conferences.

9. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians of students receiving special education services.

10. Attend scheduled faculty meetings professional development sessions and other meetings as determined by the Executive Leadership Team.

11. Attend evening events including but not limited to Parent Orientation Meet the Teacher Night Parent/Teacher Conferences and Open Houses as listed on the Master Calendar.

12. Collaborate with administration and faculty to develop and refine policies guidelines and operational procedures for Herron Classical Schools.

13. Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.

Requirements

Qualifications

1. Bachelors Degree Required.

2. Valid Indiana teaching license in Special Education is Required.

3. Prior classroom teaching experience in Special Education is strongly preferred.
