The Project Engineer Specialty Equipment is responsible for leading service and aftermarket engineering initiatives that support field serviceability product lifecycle management and customer satisfaction across JLG Specialty Equipment including Jerr-Dan AUSA JLG Ag and other Specialty Equipment brands as assigned. This role serves as a key technical liaison between Service Aftermarket Parts Warranty Engineering Quality Sales Technical Publications R&D and Supply Chain.

The position owns the development and execution of engineered service and aftermarket solutions including service kits aftermarket-only products technical documentation support and cross-functional change management. The Project Engineer manages projects from concept through release while ensuring alignment with Oshkosh JLG and Jerr-Dan engineering standards.

YOUR IMPACT

Project & Change Management

  • Plan and coordinate service and aftermarket engineering projects.

  • Prepare and maintain project documentation and communicate status risks and issues to internal stakeholders.

  • Review engineering CN releases to identify service parts and warranty impacts and ensure timely communication to affected teams.

  • Identify and develop retrofit and service solutions for in-service units to support customer applications and product reliability.

  • Represent Service and Aftermarket in NPD projects to ensure department goals and opportunities are considered.

Service Engineering

  • Lead the development of engineered service solutions by translating Voice of Customer (VOC) input into service kits and product enhancements.

  • Design document and release service kits using 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in accordance with Oshkosh standards and CN processes.

  • Partner with Service Parts Warranty and Sales teams to resolve complex customer issues and feed learnings back into product improvements.

  • Support the development revision and prioritization of service manuals and instructions in coordination with Technical Publications.

Aftermarket Engineering

  • Own the development of aftermarket-only engineered products and kits from concept through production release.

  • Create and maintain CAD models drawings BOMs and CN documentation for aftermarket components and kits.

  • Utilize ERP systems to create and maintain part numbers BOM structures and related data in accordance with established procedures.

  • Maintain comprehensive service and aftermarket kit listings across Jerr-Dan products.

  • Coordinate prototype sourcing and development with internal R&D resources and external suppliers.

  • Support competitive aftermarket parts initiatives by coordinating design cost and sourcing efforts.

Warranty Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to support root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring warranty concerns.

  • Support customer quality initiatives by developing service and aftermarket engineering solutions.

  • Assist Quality in defining and coordinating the technical scope of service and aftermarket-related quality topics.

  • Participate as needed in customer VOC activities to uncover potential product or process improvement opportunities.

General & Cross-Functional Support

  • Support testing and validation of service and aftermarket engineered products.

  • Develop and review technical bulletins intended for distributor and service network communications.

  • Provide technical guidance to Service Parts and Warranty teams regarding product configuration kits and available solutions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned that align with service aftermarket and specialty equipment engineering objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical Electrical or related discipline required). Or technical degree with 5 years of applicable experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in product project service or aftermarket engineering within a manufacturing environment.

  • Moderate proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing creation; experience with Creo preferred.

  • Working knowledge of engineering documentation standards.

  • Project management communication and cross-functional collaboration skills with focus on the customer experience.

  • Experience supporting mobile equipment specialty vehicles or heavy equipment.

  • Familiarity with service engineering aftermarket parts development or field support.

  • Exposure to BOM management change management (CN/ECN) and ERP systems.

  • Experience working directly with service organizations distributors or customers.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The following represents general working conditions for this office-based role. Specific conditions may vary depending on business needs and individual circumstances.

  • This role is primarily performed in a professional office environment with standard lighting ventilation and temperature-controlled settings.

  • Duties are largely sedentary requiring extended periods of sitting and using a computer and telephone.

  • Visual acuity to operate a computer and read documents is required along with auditory ability to participate in virtual and in-person meetings.

  • Occasional movement within the office environment is necessary including walking short distances standing or reaching for files.

Pay Range:

$82900.00 - $134300.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range individual pay is determined by various factors including the scope and responsibilities of the role the candidates experience education and skills as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
