DescriptionSt. Johns School is seeking a full-time Visual Arts teacher. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with upper school students (grades 9-12). Visual Art teachers at St. Johns work together to create a cohesive curriculum. We expect members of our community to engage in conversations that support ongoing professional development and interdisciplinary addition to relevant experience and a strong educational background successful candidates must demonstrate a collaborative spirit and a commitment to furthering the Schools mission including its strategic initiatives on community and inclusion.
Primary responsibilities:
Teach a variety of Visual Arts courses in Upper School
Serve as an advisor to 8-10 students
Demonstrate proficiency with Studio 2D Art 3D Art and/or Digital Media
Proficiency with other artforms including architecture or photography a plus
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Art/Art Education; Masters or Master of Fine Arts in Art Studio Art or Art Education with graduate hours in the teaching specialty preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of classroom teaching experience
- Experience teaching a variety of art forms (painting sculpture metals printmaking photography film digital art architecture) a plus
- Excellent organizational written and verbal communication skills
