The Role
The Logistics and Container Program Integration Engineer role will direct and coordinate the activities required to ensure on time delivery of Logistics and Container cost estimates at a GM optimal cost for current and Future Product Programs (Vehicle /Powertrain). Work involves a
great deal of integration and initiative with Product Engineering Manufacturing Purchasing Logistics Containers Plants Suppliers and Program Teams. You will act as a liaison between purchasing engineering warehousing/manufacturing logistics and suppliers to resolve
issues and to provide support. .
What Youll Do
- Develop future program Container investment commitments
- Integration of Container plan and estimate with cross functional organizations including: Manufacturing Engineering Global Purchasing & Supply Chain Program Teams and the plants
- Support the TEC process in balancing lowest total cost to GM
- Development and analyze future program plans for specialized containers
- Support the development analysis and implementation of cost savings initiatives including alternative container designs
level of assembly bundling and supplier footprint optimization - Perform cost and cube analysis for alternative transportation modes
- Perform part nesting studies to optimize container density
- Perform business case analysis to aid in the selection of appropriate containers logistics modes and equipment type
allocations and supplier footprint in support of Product Program estimates. - Support Purchasing by providing alternatives for reducing Container investment
- Support Purchasing by providing Container plan estimates
- Respond to critical capacity studies by analyzing current assets against future requirements.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Procurement or related field required
- 5 years related experience required
- Strong systems and MS Office skills particularly MGO APM MOR and advanced Excel
- High analytical capability where problems are ambiguous and complex
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skills
- Ability to both work independently and as a member of teams
- Ability to lead a project from start to finish
- Detail oriented and data driven
- Capability to provide strategic vision for future Container program plans
- Energetic and passionate to find solutions to complex supply chain problems
- Able to work independently with minimal direction
- Makes decisions in a timely manner sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure; able to make a quick decision
- Strong working knowledge of Container system sizing and engineering
- Basic working knowledge of Logistics and Supply Chain Engineering
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Strong knowledge of the Manufacturing Planning Study process
- Working knowledge of Teamcenter and VisMockUp
- Knowledge of container design types and cost drivers
