The Role

The Logistics and Container Program Integration Engineer role will direct and coordinate the activities required to ensure on time delivery of Logistics and Container cost estimates at a GM optimal cost for current and Future Product Programs (Vehicle /Powertrain). Work involves a
great deal of integration and initiative with Product Engineering Manufacturing Purchasing Logistics Containers Plants Suppliers and Program Teams. You will act as a liaison between purchasing engineering warehousing/manufacturing logistics and suppliers to resolve
issues and to provide support. .

What Youll Do

  • Develop future program Container investment commitments
  • Integration of Container plan and estimate with cross functional organizations including: Manufacturing Engineering Global Purchasing & Supply Chain Program Teams and the plants
  • Support the TEC process in balancing lowest total cost to GM
  • Development and analyze future program plans for specialized containers
  • Support the development analysis and implementation of cost savings initiatives including alternative container designs
    level of assembly bundling and supplier footprint optimization
  • Perform cost and cube analysis for alternative transportation modes
  • Perform part nesting studies to optimize container density
  • Perform business case analysis to aid in the selection of appropriate containers logistics modes and equipment type
    allocations and supplier footprint in support of Product Program estimates.
  • Support Purchasing by providing alternatives for reducing Container investment
  • Support Purchasing by providing Container plan estimates
  • Respond to critical capacity studies by analyzing current assets against future requirements.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Procurement or related field required
  • 5 years related experience required
  • Strong systems and MS Office skills particularly MGO APM MOR and advanced Excel
  • High analytical capability where problems are ambiguous and complex
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Ability to both work independently and as a member of teams
  • Ability to lead a project from start to finish
  • Detail oriented and data driven
  • Capability to provide strategic vision for future Container program plans
  • Energetic and passionate to find solutions to complex supply chain problems
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction
  • Makes decisions in a timely manner sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure; able to make a quick decision
  • Strong working knowledge of Container system sizing and engineering
  • Basic working knowledge of Logistics and Supply Chain Engineering

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Strong knowledge of the Manufacturing Planning Study process
  • Working knowledge of Teamcenter and VisMockUp
  • Knowledge of container design types and cost drivers
