Summary:
Join Woodwells Arctic team as a Temporary Research Assistant (Geospatial Data Scientist)on a 3-month project.As the ResearchAssistant you will be the core technical contributor on this project responsible for implementing training and validating a proof-of-concept deep learning framework. You will work closely with the PI and a multidisciplinary team of climate scientists to translate diverse climate datasets into a unified representation capable of cross-domain time series prediction.This will potentially lead to a journal publication (second author co-authorship for the role).
Responsibilities include but not limited:
Must have the Following Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Machine learning and Deep learning time series forecasting
Multi-domain deep learning
Claude Code and vibe coding
Experience with geospatial data sets
Preferred skills:
Experience with climate or Earth science data
Experience with fine-tuning GeoAI (geospatial artificial intelligence) foundation models
Qualifications:
Masters in Computer Science Data Science Environmental Science or a related quantitative field or Bachelors degree with 2 years of professional experience
Work Environment:
The functions of this role are conducted indoors
Hours of Work:
This role is paid on a nonexempt role. Typically full-time employees work 40 hours during a Monday through Friday workweek.

Classification and Compensation:This is a full-time hourly non-exempt position the hourly rate is $17/hour dependent on qualifications/experience.
