The Department of Electronic Systems at The Technical Faculty of IT and Design invites applications for a position as Senior Researcher in the field of radio channel characterisation and antenna system validation as per August 1 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is available for 4 years with the possibility of extension based on grants awarded.

Your work tasks
As one of three research groups within the Antennas Propagation and Millimetre-Wave Systems (APMS) section the Wireless Propagation and Over-the-Air Testing group conducts high quality and internationally recognized research focused on applying radio channel knowledge to solve real-world problems.
Your primary task is to take leadership of the research group and ensure its continued growth. This includes managing ongoing projects and driving efforts to secure new competitive grants for research activities related to advanced wireless channel measurement modelling. An important responsibility is to form and maintain national and international research relations and to initiate and engage in collaborative projects with external partners and other research environments.
You are also expected to take an active and dedicated role in the teaching activities of the APMS section and to engage fully in the departments educational programmes. You will teach and supervise students at bachelor master and where relevant PhD level typically within areas related to wireless communication. This includes course teaching supervision of project and thesis work and involvement in the continuous development of our problem-based learning approach.
Finally you are expected to contribute to academic citizenship and service for example through participation in study boards committees working groups and outreach activities that connect the university with external stakeholders and the wider society. You will be part of an international academic environment where curiosity collaboration and critical reflection shape how we work with knowledge and societal challenges.
Your competencies
To become successful in the position you must have a strong academic background documented by a PhD degree or equivalent qualifications and be an established and internationally recognized researcher with a proven track record that spans the full measurement modelling validation chain of modern wireless systems including channel sounding and environment characterization; development of statistical and deterministic channel models and emulators; diagnostics calibration and characterization of phased arrays and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS); near-field antenna measurements and near-fieldtofar-field transformations; and over-the-air (OTA) testing of wireless devices to ensure model fidelity and reliable performance evaluation. You can formulate relevant research questions select suitable methods and communicate your results clearly in both written and oral form. You have documented project management experience from research projects in related fields and feel comfortable taking responsibility for the development of a research group.
You have experience with university teaching or a clear potential for developing solid teaching skills. You are willing to work with problem-based learning and to involve students actively in their own learning processes through project work supervision and dialogue-based teaching formats. Experience with course responsibility curriculum development or supervision of larger student projects will be considered an advantage.
As a colleague you are open collaborative and reliable. You contribute to a positive working environment by sharing knowledge giving and receiving feedback and supporting joint projects. You can work independently and take initiative in both research and teaching while also seeing yourself as part of a team where results are created together.
Qualification requirements
Appointment as senior researcher requires research and teaching qualifications at the level that can be achieved through the satisfactory completion of a period of employment as researcher but may also be obtained in other ways.
It is a precondition that applicants have documented research at an international addition applicants are assumed to have received supervision and pedagogical skills development and to have obtained a positive written assessment of their teaching qualifications.
