Job Summary

Hematologist / Oncologist (MD/DO)

Position Summary

The Hematologist/Oncologist provides comprehensive evaluation diagnosis and treatment of patients with benign and malignant disorders of the blood and cancer. This role involves delivering evidence-based medical care coordinating multidisciplinary oncology services and supporting patients and families throughout the continuum of care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients with hematologic disorders and solid and hematologic malignancies
  • Diagnose and treat conditions including anemia thrombosis coagulation disorders leukemia lymphoma and solid tumors
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing chemotherapy immunotherapy targeted therapies and supportive care
  • Provide outpatient oncology care and inpatient consultation services as needed
  • Monitor treatment response and manage therapy-related side effects and complications
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including radiation oncology surgery pathology radiology pharmacy and palliative care
  • Participate in tumor boards and care planning conferences
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses treatment options prognosis and survivorship care
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement patient safety and outcomes initiatives
  • Supervise and educate advanced practice providers residents or fellows as applicable
  • Comply with all regulatory accreditation and professional standards

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited internal medicine residency program
  • Completion of an accredited hematology/oncology fellowship program
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
  • DEA registration or eligibility

  • Ability to manage complex chronic and life-threatening conditions
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and compassionate patient-centered care

Work Environment

  • Outpatient oncology clinics infusion centers and hospital inpatient settings
  • Call responsibilities as determined by practice or service needs

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit stand and move throughout clinical environments
  • Manual dexterity for examinations and office-based procedures
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and treatment monitoring

Requirements

Must maintain state certification and/or licensure.
