Job Summary: As a Senior Staff engineer the role entails a passion to contribute significantly to the design of platforms by solving complex technical problems and building systems that run at an enormous scale. Your skills will be essential in addressing intricate technical challenges constructing scalable systems and guiding the team to realize their maximum potential!
About the team: We power some of the largest live sporting and entertainment events streamed on the JioHotstar platform. To deliver a seamless viewing experience at scale our team is responsible for measuring and maintaining video Quality of Service (QoS) in real time. We drive JioHotstars multi-Content Delivery Network strategy and build systems that enable intelligent traffic shaping based on video and API performance metrics. Our work sits at the intersection of data engineering software engineering and advanced visualizationmaking this team a unique blend of deep technical expertise and real-time decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serves as the functional lead possess deep knowledge of core systems and takes full responsibility for the teams code design and project delivery ensuring high quality and on-time completion
- Tackles complex technical challenges independently for complex systems demonstrating technical depth and proficiency in multiple programming languages
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks scalability issues and areas for optimization
- Contribute to architectural discussions propose innovative solutions and evaluate trade-offs to make informed technical decisions
- Collaborate with product managers to decompose large projects into manageable tasks and prioritize work effectively
- Build the next-generation user experience and the platforms required to enable intuitive content discovery for our customers
- Work with the engineering team to optimize applications for performance and scalability across various platforms Mobile Web and Living Room devices
- Provide mentorship and guidance to other developers
Skills & Attributes for success:
- Strong coding and designing skills (Java or Golang)
- Experience in building high-scale distributed domain-driven microservices
- Proficiency with databases like MySQL NoSql (Cassandra Redis DynamoDB)
- Embrace new technologies and work with various tools and technologies to achieve the desired functionality
- Experience with AWS stacks like SQS Dynamo DB EKS Aurora etc. will be an added advantage
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues in production environments
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and collaborate well within a team environment to achieve desired results
Preferred Education & Experience:
- B-Tech or M-Tech in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from a reputed university.
- 9-12 years of progressive experience in software development with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time.
