Summary:

The Library of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority is seeking an Intern to assist the Library Supervisor in the following activities:

  1. creating a metadata object description schema (MODS) for historical photographs in preparation for digitization
  2. classifying weeding and digitizing an extensive research file collection
  3. assisting in the daily operation of a small governmental Special Library.

Posting Period: 2/18/2026 to 3/3/2026
Location:
Chelsea MA
Salary:
$23.00 per hour
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm


Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and record metadata for historic photograph digitization project in MODS.
  • Organize classify and digitize print documents from a print research files collection.
  • Learn daily library operations in a special library setting.
  • Serve a wide variety of personnel in reference requests as needed.
  • Provide additional support to Library Supervisor as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrollment in an ALA-accredited Library and Information Science Masters degree program.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed organizational skills with a thorough attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Internship duration: May - December
