ABOUT YOU
Principal Technician (Application Support) NATO Grade 12
As part of the Database & Application Support Section you will contribute to application system support and database management / administration encompassing technical liaison application server configuration management performance management troubleshooting system backup and recovery.
Through your professional expertise you will help ensure the effective and efficient installation testing operation and user support of application software and databases that enable NAEW&C data and mission support processes. Your contribution will directly enhance the mission effectiveness and reliability of NAEW&C and E-3A operations.
Principal Technician (UNIX Services Operation and Management) NATO Grade 10
As part of the Systems & Server Section you will contribute to the consolidation of user requirements and through lifecycle technical support of fielded IT/CIS systems and networks in the areas of Component Support Mission Support and non-peculiar Mission System Engineering.
In this role you will occupy a vital position within the organization where the accurate and timely accomplishment of assigned tasks is essential to its effective functioning. You will provide expert technical advice to other NAEW&C elements and when required to external NATO bodies and contractor firms regarding assigned systems. Through your expertise and professional judgment you will contribute to technical decisions that may have significant impact on the Wing.
Technician (Service Desk/ System Installation) NATO Grade 8
As part of the Customer Support Section you will support the operation administration and lifecycle maintenance of assigned IT/CIS systems software and data as well as associated support facilities local and wide area networks component internet connectivity and other designated functional addition you will provide first-level user support for IT/CIS-related incidents and assist in delivering user training focused on basic client device operations.
The incumbent directly supports the Base Support Wing mission by ensuring continuity of knowledge and experience in the management of IT/CIS incidents service requests and problem resolution. The role also contributes to effective asset management particularly within the organizations unique IT/CIS asset management system helping to maintain accuracy accountability and operational readiness.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
For all roles you must have
Higher Secondary education and intermediate vocational training or Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training (However secondary education and basic training is sufficient for the NATO Grade 8 role);
Profound post related professional experience;
Working knowledge of Automatic Data Processing (ADP) systems;
A good command of English both written and spoken;
A University degree as well as experience working in a NATO international or military environment will be considered as an advantage.
Additionally the following will be considered as an advantage for each role:
Principal Technician (Application Support)
Experience in the technical customization integration and performance optimization of commercial-off-the-shelf products for complex data warehouse solutions large scale document workflow management systems and high end web-sites and web content management tools.
Experience in using one or more of the HTML and XML programming languages.
Experience in the design implementation and testing of 4th generation application systems preferably within an Oracle development environment.
Experience working with Oracle databases and related software toolsets / advanced features.
Experience with Oracle database administration in a UNIX/Solaris environment.
Principal Technician (UNIX Services Operation and Management)
Experience collaborating with contractor firms on system administration activities including configuration control of software and data in client-server environments.
Background supporting NAEW&C airborne early warning systems other air defence systems electronic warfare platforms and familiarity with relevant international and commercial standards.
Technical expertise in administering storage area networks virtualized environments and enterprise server systems.
Formally trained and certified in UNIX system administration including advanced qualifications for UNIX workstations servers and networks as well as specialized training in Sun Solaris and RedHat system software.
Technician (Service Desk/System Installation)
Four years of experience working with data processing equipment including first- and second-level user support operations.
Basic system administration experience in MS Windows environments across LAN/WAN networks with solid knowledge of client platform administration.
Background as a system technician supporting air operations command and control or air traffic control IT/CIS systems.
Completed formal IT/CIS technician and/or system administrator training along with vocational education in IT/CIS asset management and inventory control.
Additional qualifications include LAN operations training and certification in IT/CIS systems repair and configuration.
YOUR SKILLS
Flexibility paired with analytic thinking in continuously dealing with diverse and complex scenarios for a large and very different IT/CIS systems;
A natural tendency for working conscientiously and accurately in every detail;
Clear and professional communication with users and stakeholders including the ability to explain complex technical issues in simple terms;
Knowledge of information security principles risk mitigation;
Ability to work in compliance with relevant standards and policies.

CONTRACT
Serving civilian members of NATO will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations. Newly recruited staff will be initially offered a definite duration contract of three years. Thereafter an indefinite duration contract might be offered.

Salary values indicated in this vacancy notice are based on NATOS Single Salary Spine scale;
The salary is tax free including (where eligible) expatriation family and childrens allowances and additional privileges for expatriate staff;
