Job Summary

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a Strategic Account & Business Development Manager (f/m/d) to be accountable for the sales business development and management of customer accounts in the biomaterials & advanced technology industries within our NuSil Silicone Solutions Portfolio.

We are looking for a proactive business development strategist who will continuously identify opportunities to achieve significant growth. By partnering with Avantors engineering quality and supply chain teams you will assess and meet customer needs to the highest degree and build deep relationships.

This role will be a remote position with regular travel to our sites in Europe (30%) & occasionally to the US. Please note that this role will cover maternity leave with a minimum contract length of one year.

The team

The successful Strategic Account Manager will be part of a wider European Team of 4 Account Managers & Sales Specialists.

What were looking for

  • Education: Bachelors or Masters in Life Science or related field is required
  • Experience: Vast experience in nurturing large accounts managing vendors and distributors technical expertise and business development
  • Technical aptitude to sell complex silicone raw materials
  • Solid experience in a matrix organization
  • Ability to work and collaborate with senior leadership across a variety of functions
  • Good understanding of business development practices
  • Excellent writing presentation and speaking skills in English. An additional European language (French preferred) would be an asset
  • Experience working with life sciences technology or a science-related company
  • Experience with LinkedIn Sales Navigator would be an asset
  • Experience with value-based sales methodology would be an asset

  • Develop strong relationships and a key understanding of medical device producers and advanced technology companies needs
  • Market & customer analysis to allow for selection and prioritization of opportunities
  • Demonstrate NuSil product portfolio adopting a solution-based focus to enable customer-led R&D
  • Develop account plans and syndicate with key internal stakeholders to engage relevant support for effective execution
  • Develop strong internal & external networks to influence & drive the execution of strategy both vertically and horizontally across organizations
  • Understand customer processes applications and quality attributes and effectively communicate customer technology product requirements to Technology & Innovation and Marketing teams
  • Establish forecasts and delivery of the annual budget including targeted growth from new opportunities
  • Implement pipeline sales opportunities and manage the process accordingly
  • Support customers with material problem-solving
  • Anticipate coordinate and respond to the competitive environment and initiatives
  • Work with cross-functional teams to orchestrate required support to develop and convert new opportunities
  • Negotiate contracts with customers
