The Position
This position will provide clinical research support for research based at Alfred Health. This Research Assistant is responsible for supporting clinical trials including the PROMOTE FASTRACK and the Alfred Pathways to Rehabilitation program. Research tasks will be allocated appropriate to their level of experience and competency.

Key duties for this role include :

  • Administer standardised assessments to assess upper limb and physical function including ROM walking speed tests Box and Block test and Action Research Arm Test and enter data into REDCap databases
  • Conduct qualitative interviews with people undergoing health care or with health conditions (including adults with stroke and brain injury)
  • Promotes best practice teamwork principles and actively contributes to the interdisciplinary team.
  • Establishes and maintains effective therapeutic relationships with patients and their families/carers
  • Enter data into an electronic data capture system
  • Assist in management of clinical trials
  • Liaise with key stakeholders
  • Recruit for trials
  • Ensures effective use of time and physical resources.
  • Responds to referrals/clinical requests in agreed timelines and in accordance with departmental protocols

Key selection criteria
Essential

  • Bachelors or masters degree in a relevant discipline
  • AHPRA registration (if required)
  • GCP certification
  • Ability to conduct qualitative interviews
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a research team
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a wide range of people

Desirable

  • Experience working with patients with neurological illness
  • Knowledge of grant applications and Australian funding sector
  • Knowledge of REDCap databases
  • Experience using electronic data capture system
  • Experience developing ethics applications
  • Experience in study set-up data collection and management
