Who are we looking for

GHD has an excellent opportunity for a Part Time as NeededConstruction Inspectorto be based out of one of our offices in either Santa Rosa San Francisco Concord or Roseville CAOffice.

Responsibilities
  • Represent GHD as the on-site primary liaison between the construction manager Owner and the contractor throughout construction of the project
  • Provide on-site observation of construction activities including reviewing materials and installation against contract documents and approved submittals for civil piping structural architectural mechanical electrical instrumentation and controls
  • Document activities including written daily reports and photographs
  • Contribute to weekly coordination meetings with the Contractor Owner and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate and oversee third-party materials testing including but not limited to soils and concrete
  • Play a lead role in observing and reporting on site non-compliances to assure excellent site safety and quality management
  • Communicate and coordinate with the other multi-discipline project teams including clients and external bodies
  • Construction Management: Provide operational support services and sometimes act as first-line supervisor of an area of a construction project. Involves using existing systems and protocols.
  • Health Safety and Environment: Follow the organizations health safety and environment (HSE) policies procedures and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Work Scheduling and Allocation: Assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates in order to achieve expectations
  • Performance Management: Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance; or monitor the performance of the team allocate work and review completion take appropriate corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality and contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal.
  • Organizational Capability Building: Provide coaching to team members to develop their skills.
  • Operational Compliance: Identify within the team instances of noncompliance with the organizations policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Quality Assurance: Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes. Implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives and monitor them to make sure they are effective.
Education
  • High school diploma with 1-3 years industry experience in Inspection
Experience
  • Proven experience in delivering infrastructureprojects
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
  • The motivation to work independently a dedication to project success and a team approach to solving challenges
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel; ability to make efficient use of technology for communication documentation and record-keeping
  • Proven understanding of industry standards and applicable codes
  • Strong organizational skills and the flexibility to deal with changing priorities

Salary Range: $33.00-$50.00 per hour based on experience. Prevailing wages may apply where applicable.
