Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION Apply student development philosophy and theory to deliver comprehensive counseling services for EOPS students from diverse backgrounds including the development of comprehensive Student Education Plans (SEPs) guidance in degree and vocational program planning career exploration goal clarification and personal life management. Provide proactive retention follow-up and collaborate with campus and community partners to ensure coordinated support that promotes student persistence completion and transfer success. Participate in co-curricular activities including planning implementing and teaching in special programs designed to support student success. Participate in the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the Student Learning Outcomes assessment cycle. Maintain formal office and campus hours; participate in department and division meetings. Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances (e.g. computer software applications) as necessary to perform duties in an efficient organized and timely manner. Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities; comply with district college and division policies in the performance of duties. Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials effective teaching methodologies and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions. Develop culturally relevant course content culturally responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices for engaging students who are diverse and/or are students who are historically underserved. The ideal candidate should have experience in this area with African American. Latinx Native Americans Pacific Islanders and other disproportionately impacted students. Work cooperatively with staff and students. Evening and/or Saturday assignments may be required as part of the regular contract.

Desirable Qualifications
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrated a minimum of one year of EOPS counseling experience. Experience working with and commitment to working with culturally and ethnically diverse populations to create equitable outcomes for students. Experience working with California community college student support services programs including EOPS CARE CalWORKs Foster Youth Undocumented Student Programs DSS and System Impacted. Demonstrates competence in providing high-touch case management and counseling services as evidenced by appropriate guidance to students career academic financial psychological social and personal goals. Ability to develop comprehensive student education plans in accordance with Title 5 section 56236 including but not limited to general education and transfer. Demonstrated workshop facilitation experience in a post-secondary setting. Effective interpersonal verbal and written communication skills which foster positive relationships with students and staff.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Masters degree in counseling rehabilitation counseling clinical psychology counseling psychology guidance counseling educational counseling social work or and career development or the equivalent AND EOPS counselors hired after October 24 1987 shall: (1) Have completed a minimum of nine semester units of college course work predominantly relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language social or economic disadvantages OR (2) Have completed six semester units or the equivalent of a college-level counseling practicum or counseling field-work courses in a community college EOPS program or in a program dealing predominantly with ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language social or economic disadvantages AND Two years of occupational experience in work relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language social or economic disadvantages.
