Description:
Cardiac Special Procedure Tech II
Scrubs and gowns for surgery to assist the cardiologist in all aspects of invasive cardiovascular procedures. Performs a variety of specialized and complex invasive and non-invasive cardiovascular procedures. Assists the cardiologist in all surgical and diagnostic procedures. Prepares patients and assists in monitoring the patients condition during invasive cardiovascular procedures.
REQUIRED EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
- Associates degree or equivalent combination of experience and education in Cardiovascular Technology or related field required.
- RCIS/RCES (CCI) or CI (ARRT) certification preferred.
- BLS/ACLS Required.
- Satisfactory completion of a formal cardiac cath-training program is preferred or minimum of one-year experience as a cardiac cath technologist (with demonstrable skills).
- Must be able to respond within 30 minutes when on call.
Job Knowledge
- Thorough understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
- Thorough understanding of principles of EKG pressure waveform analysis set-up and scrub procedure in a sterile field operation of cineangiography equipment arterial and venous blood gas analysis catheterization procedures using Judkins and Sone techniques temporary and permanent pacemaker placement emergency procedures cardiovascular medication administration (IV oral injected).
- Must be able to operate a variety of diagnostic and computerized equipment such as hemodynamic recorders EKG monitors hemoximeter Doppler cineangiography equipment defibrillation film processors and intra-aortic balloon pump (when available).
- Ability to recognize and analyze anatomical and pathological abnormalities common to age specific criteria.
