Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Med/Surg & Emergency Department
Location:Syracuse New York
Shift: Days (7:00 AM 7:30 PM)
Schedule: Every other weekend and some holidays
Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for Med/Surg and Emergency Department units in an acute care hospital setting. Unit placement will be determined based on prior experience. The LPN will provide high-quality patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and physicians while supporting clinical and operational functions of the nursing unit.
Required Qualifications
Current New York State LPN License
CPR certification (or ability to obtain/re-certify)
Minimum of 1 year of LPN experience
Ability to function in an acute care setting with minimal orientation and supervision
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Highly Preferred Qualifications
Inpatient hospital experience (1 year)
Phlebotomy experience
IV insertion experience
EKG application experience
Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care Duties
Perform the majority of patient care functions required in an acute care setting
Greet patients and prepare them for examination
Take and document vital signs
Measure and record patient progress
Assist physicians during examinations and procedures
Set up trays and equipment for injections and procedures
Administer injections
Assist with PAP smears and other clinical procedures
Implement nursing care activities under the direction of the primary or associate nurse as outlined in the nursing care plan
Observe document and report patient responses to treatments
Clinical & Administrative Support
Prepare and maintain exam rooms and clinical areas
Assist with reception appointment scheduling filing and chart preparation
Obtain insurance authorizations (physical therapy MRIs CT scans surgeries etc.)
Coordinate referrals with primary care physicians
Maintain accurate documentation in EMR systems
