Introduction
RETTEW is seeking a Construction Inspector to support construction phase services across facilities and infrastructure projects specifically municipal utility projects such as water and sewer lines pumping stations and wastewater facilities. Working under the guidance of construction managers this role focuses on construction observation documentation and verification to help ensure work is completed in accordance with approved plans and specifications.

Position Summary
The Construction Inspector supports construction activities by observing work in progress documenting daily field activities and assisting with verification that materials and procedures comply with contract documents. This role is foundational to RETTEWs Construction Services team and provides exposure to a wide range of construction types including utilities buildings and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities / Day-to-Day
Observe construction work to verify compliance with plans specifications permits and applicable codes
Measure distances and quantities to confirm accuracy of utility installations layouts and construction progress
Maintain detailed daily logs of construction activities progress staffing equipment and weather conditions
Record quantities of materials delivered and used during specified periods
Reviewing workmanship of completed installations for conformance to standards
Interpret plans and specifications for contractors under guidance and communicate observed deviations
Prepare sketches or field notes documenting construction changes and report them to the project team
Support construction meetings site walks and coordination with project managers and contractors
Qualifications
Required
Bachelors degree in related field with 4 years of construction experience
Associates degree in a construction-related field with 6 years of construction experience or
High school diploma with a minimum of 8 years of construction-related experience
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills including use of required project software
Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites
Preferred
Experience in construction inspection field observation and construction administration
Experience with civil structural architectural or utility construction
Familiarity with public sector or consultant-led construction projects
Professional certifications such as NICETICC or CESSWI
