The Sr. Associate I Instrumentation and Calibration Technical Support position is responsible for GxP documenting and where applicable performing the installation calibration and maintenance of laboratory this role you will work closely with R&D Scientists and the Laboratory Instruments & Systems team to ensure reliable operation of laboratory assets requiring strong attention to detail effective communication and substantial taskmanagement skills. This role is 100% on-site in our Durham NC location and key responsibilities include:

  • Install calibrate maintain qualify and repair laboratory instruments (e.g. HPLC GC thermometers osmometers KF titrators FTIR pH etc.)
  • Collaborate with scientists to determine source of error when systems malfunction initiate repair tickets with vendors where applicable
  • Enter and manage data in calibration and maintenance software
  • Assists with vendor scheduling and communications; escort vendor technicians while onsite performing services
  • Help track metrics for laboratory instruments (e.g. repair downtimes % on-time completion defects)
  • Adhere to GxP regulations by following SOPs protocols maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring quality control
  • Follow safety procedures for proper handling and disposal of laboratory waste where applicable
  • Complete all required training and meet individual job requirements
  • Contribute to overall compliance and continuous improvement of laboratory systems

What Youll Bring to Alcon:

  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school 10 yrs; Assoc.6 yrs; M.S.0 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read write understand and communicate in English
  • 2 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • All associates must adhere to GxP regulations by strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) maintaining accurate and complete documentation ensuring rigorous quality control and completing all required training.
  • Knowledge of repair of HPLC PDA and mass spectrophotometer (MS) instruments
  • Familiarity with CMMS software
  • Associates are responsible for meeting their individual job requirements and contributing to the overall compliance of the organization. Compliance with regulatory requirements and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential to our operations.
