Job Summary Perform various technical functions in support Engineering with building/ modifying electronic and mechanical hardware for development efforts. Solder micro-miniature SMT components or fine pitch ICs solder under a microscope make complex circuit card modifications and build PWB boards. Wire/ assemble prototype hardware. Responsibilities and Tasks - Prototype build/or commissioning from schematics
- Lead complex in-house tests.
- Write test plan and develop procedure.
- Instruct others clearly.
- Gather and save data.
- Write or help write test report from template or instruction.
- Lead or participate in failure Analysis.
- Instruct others clearly.
- Inspect assemblies for flaws cold-solder shorts etc.
- Troubleshoot electrical failure to component level.
- Write or help write FA report from template or instruction.
- Operate in-house Test/Data acquisition systems such as Tank-room or environmental with guidance.
- Operate in-house Test/Data acquisition systems such as Tank-room or environmental comfortably.
Education Experience Licenses and Certifications - High School diploma or GED.
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience
- 4-6 years of similar experience is preferred.
Skills and Abilities - Understand and operate in-house testing and Data Acquisition Systems.
- Provide complete testing support for Engineering or Production Personnel to conduct in-house tests.
- Formulate testing procedures.
- Understand and operate in-house testing and Data Acquisition Systems with guidance.
- Provide testing support for Engineering or Production Personnel to conduct in-house tests.
- Increased Soldering/desoldering ability.
- SMT down to 0402.
- ICs down to 31 mil pitch
- Ability to Operate more complex test equipment such as Scopes and Spectrum analyzers.
- This means understanding Time domain vs Frequency domain.
- Trouble shoot circuits to the component level.
- Ability to recognize the functions of a limited set of components and distinguish improper operation in a powered circuit.
- Able to build or modify prototypes using PCBs or breadboard or a combination from schematics.
- Increased skill in MS office apps
- Entry of math formulas in excel.
- Filtering in excel.
- Ability to operate in-house Data Acquisition Systems with instruction.
- Solder/Desolder simple components thru hole of 3 pins or less and SMT down to about 805 size of 3 pins or less.
- Able to add jumper wires and cut traces on a Printed Circuit assy as instructed.
- Able to read schematics and at least recognize a component in a schematic vs the wire which connects them. Complete symbology knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to read and comprehend the readings on a multimeter recognize units and prefixes (ex: MΩ mA uF).
- Ability to operate lab power supplies comfortably.
- Ability to operate Excel at least to the level of cell value entry doing math formulas is a plus.
- Ability to run simple tests.
- Ability to Operate other Microsoft office apps beginner level.
- Ability to operate email
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Travel and Physical Requirements - Nominal travel required.
