DescriptionThe Patient Transporter is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting patients equipment specimens and supplies throughout the healthcare facility. This role ensures patients experience a high level of care comfort and professionalism during transport while supporting clinical teams with timely service.
Responsibilities- Safely transport patients via wheelchair stretcher or bed to and from departments such as radiology surgery labs and discharge areas.
- Assist patients with mobility needs while maintaining sensitivity dignity and comfort.
- Ensure all equipment (wheelchairs stretchers beds) is clean sanitized and in proper working condition.
- Communicate patient information handoffs and special needs to nursing staff and other clinical teams.
- Respond promptly to transport requests and prioritize tasks based on urgency.
- Transport specimens medical equipment and supplies as needed following hospital protocols.
- Use safety precautions including proper body mechanics patient restraint devices and infection-control guidelines.
- Maintain accurate logs documentation or electronic records of completed transports.
- Support emergency situations by rapidly assisting clinical staff with patient movement.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients families and staff.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Prior patient care or transport experience helpful but not required.
- CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift maneuver and transport patients safely.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
Skills and Competencies:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Prior patient care or transport experience helpful but not required.
- CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain).
