Job Summary
A busy and well-organised academy school in Essex is seeking a diligent and numerically confident Finance Officer to support the effective day-to-day financial operations of the school. This role is central to ensuring financial accuracy compliance and efficiency within a structured educational environment.
Working closely with the School Business Manager and senior leaders the successful candidate will help ensure all financial processes run smoothly and in line with academy trust regulations.
The Role
Processing purchase orders invoices and payments in line with financial procedures
Supporting payroll processes and liaising with payroll providers
Reconciling accounts and maintaining accurate financial records
Assisting with monthly and termly financial reporting
Monitoring departmental budgets and flagging variances
Preparing documentation for internal and external audits
Liaising with suppliers and resolving payment queries
Supporting financial compliance in line with academy trust requirements
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Previous experience in a finance or accounts role ideally within education
Strong understanding of financial systems and accounting procedures
Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
Confidence working with spreadsheets and finance software
Ability to manage deadlines and maintain confidentiality
A proactive and organised approach to workload management
