Role Information

The school is looking for a compassionate dedicated Welfare Officer to support student wellbeing attendance engagement and pastoral provision.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing daily welfare support for students experiencing emotional social medical or behavioural difficulties

  • Offering one-to-one check-ins listening support and early intervention guidance

  • Monitoring safeguarding concerns and reporting to the Safeguarding Lead

  • Coordinating external referrals and liaising with CAMHS Early Help social care and health services

  • Supporting attendance monitoring and targeted intervention plans

  • Working closely with the pastoral team SEN department and form tutors

  • Helping to run wellbeing programmes anti-bullying initiatives and resilience workshops

  • Maintaining accurate electronic records safeguarding logs and follow-up documentation

  • Communicating effectively with parents carers and staff regarding student needs

  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding legislation and confidentiality protocols

This is a meaningful role requiring empathy strong judgement resilience and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • Experience in a welfare pastoral safeguarding or youth support role

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures (DSL training desirable)

  • Ability to build trust with young people and families

  • Excellent communication and emotional intelligence

  • Ability to stay calm solution-focused and professional

  • Experience working with external support agencies

  • Strong administrative and record-keeping skills

  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and wellbeing
