Job Summary
A prestigious and academically strong secondary school in Oxford is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Chemistry Technician to support its thriving Science faculty as soon as possible. Chemistry is a flagship subject within the school with consistently strong GCSE and A Level uptake and excellent examination outcomes. Practical investigation is central to the curriculum and the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring laboratory provision is delivered safely efficiently and to the highest professional standard.

The Role
Preparing chemicals solutions and apparatus for practical Chemistry lessons across KS3KS5
Supporting advanced practical investigations at GCSE and A Level
Ensuring safe handling storage and disposal of chemicals in line with COSHH regulations
Maintaining laboratory equipment and coordinating servicing or repairs
Managing chemical stock control and maintaining accurate inventories
Assisting teachers with risk assessments and updating safety documentation
Supporting the preparation and administration of required practical assessments
Ensuring laboratories remain compliant organised and safe at all times
Liaising with other Science technicians to ensure smooth departmental operations
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Previous laboratory or Chemistry-based experience (school or industry)
Strong understanding of COSHH and laboratory safety procedures
High attention to detail and organisational accuracy
Confidence supporting practical investigations at GCSE and A Level
The ability to prioritise workload in a busy school environment
A professional reliable and proactive approach
