Position Summary

Reporting to the Director Clinical Programs the Live-In Treatment Manager is responsible for managing the smooth and effective operation of the Youthdales Live-in Treatment program. This position is responsible for the administrative supervisory functions and treatment needs of the clients and ensuring compliance with Youthdale policies and other such guidelines established by the Ministry of Children Community and Social Services and Ministry of Health. The ideal candidate should have the ability to coordinate and participate in case management consultation and program planning activities. Live-In Treatment Manager also participates in the overall management of the agency in terms of strategic planning program development human resources management and compliance with site and agency policies and procedures.

Accountability

Reports to: Director Clinical Programs

Supervises: Team Lead Child and Youth Counsellor and Child and Youth Counsellors (CYCs).

Corporate Responsibilities

  • Fosters positive and constructive interpersonal relationships with the staff volunteers clients visitors outside agencies government officials and related professional associations.
  • Maintains and adheres to all relevant legislation.
  • Maintains and adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Abides by all occupational health and safety policies.
  • Demonstrates management practices which are consistent with the mission vision and philosophy of Youthdale Treatment Centres.

Job Responsibilities

Operation & Administration

  • Provide weekly individual supervision of all childcare staff in the house and from time-to-time weekly supervision of students engaged in field practice.
  • Determine staffing requirements in consultation with the clinical director and oversee the hiring (and termination) of staff.
  • Schedule conduct and attend regular staff meetings case conferences house meetings administrative staff meetings and other all-house special events. (I.e. birthdays holiday dinners etc.)
  • Manage the funds allocated for the day-to-day maintenance of the residential program and ensure that spending is within budgetary parameters and reasonable in terms of each clients needs.
  • Maintain positive relationships with other service providers including but not limited to CIFT workers school personnel childrens aid workers all court workers etc.
  • Oversee and assist with the planning and implementation of program enhancements.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with staff team leads clients and partners.

Policies & Procedures

  • Orient new staff employed at the residence to the policy and procedures manual.
  • Ensure that staff adhere to all health and safety procedures and guidelines and that safe work practiced are followed.
  • Ensure that the structure routines cleanliness and repair of the house menus food preparation and clothing of clients are all up to a maximum standard.
  • Ensure that all employees comply with company policies procedures and ethical standards.
  • Complete annual staff evaluations of the respective program staff.
  • Ensure that training and recertification of staff and trainers occurs according to policy and procedure.
  • Participate in the interviewing process for LIT program staff recruitment selecting competent staff who can provide effective leadership effective management and fulfil the required roles.
  • Identify and address training and development needs of LIT program staff.

Case Management

  • Coordinate each clients individual treatment plans for families/caregivers and other community visits admissions and discharge plans.
  • Oversee all components of service delivery through the clients service involvement ensuring that the various disciplines involved in the clients care journey (e.g. CYCs Social Work Psychiatry etc.) are effectively collaborating to support the client/family towards their treatment goal(s)
  • With the permission of clients consult with relevant caregivers and significant others in clients lives in order to update modify or reassess treatment plans and intervention strategies.
  • Understand and use correct reporting procedures for serious or unusual incidents including but not limited to client injury or illness incidents of aggression or injury involving employees.
  • Respect and protect the rights of clients including but not limited to their right to independence autonomy and self-determination; their right to choose and practice individual values beliefs religion and culture; their right to privacy and dignity; and their right to live free from retaliation discrimination and abuse.
  • Ensure that documentation (i.e. daily written log etc.) and all pertinent information on each client is updated and available as required.
  • Inform parents/guardians of medication changes and serious incidents.
  • Track incident reports to ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to as per Ministry of Children Community and Social Services.

Program Support

  • Be available to assist in other parts of the agency.
  • May be required to assist in the coordination of agency-wide functions as well as represent the agency at community conference meetings.
  • Required to be available to the house on a 24-hours basis (except during planned vacation) to be notified of all accidents runaways and other significant events in the house.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in nursing psychology social work psychotherapy or relevant field. Masters degree preferred. Regulated Health Care Professional and registration with the Ontario Nurses Association College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario OCSWSSW or related professional association
  • At least three years of supervisory experience in a related field preferably managing and supervising interdisciplinary staff. And 5 years of practice experience
  • Knowledge of community resources within the GTA and step down interventions
  • Knowledge of children and youth mental health and the social determinants of health.
  • Expert knowledge of system navigation and referral pathways to community mental health addiction support health social agency resources etc.
  • Sound analytical thinking planning prioritization and execution skills
  • Strong formal and informal leadership skills.
  • Ability to delegate set expectations and monitor progress of all direct reports.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective leadership skills with a strong focus on mentoring and motivation of employees.
  • Experience with coaching and employee development.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy including solid negotiation conflict resolution and people management skills.
  • Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems
  • Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Ability to interact with others under varying circumstances-including situations of a highly sensitive nature.
  • Ability to anticipate understand and respond to the needs of clients stakeholders and staff.
  • Ability to assess situations to determine the importance urgency and risk and to make clear and timely decisions.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours as required.
  • Advanced organizational and administrative skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
