Job Title : Graduate Engineer Trainee

Purpose of the Role: The Graduate Engineer Trainee role at Weir is designed to bring new engineering talent into the organisation with a focused development pathway in New Product Development.
This role contributes to innovative product solutions by supporting design development validation and launch activities while building strong competencies in engineering fundamentals product lifecycle management and cross-functional collaboration.
The trainee will gain exposure to the complete product development lifecycle from concept generation through design prototyping validation and product launch while contributing to innovation quality and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Role Summary
A Graduate Engineer Trainee begins the journey at Weir through a structured training plan designed to:
Enhance engineering design and application skills
Develop understanding of product development lifecycle and stage-gate processes
Acquire domain knowledge related to Weir products and applications
Build exposure to design validation manufacturability and compliance requirements
Develop cross-functional collaboration and project execution skills
The program includes technical tool training campus-to-corporate orientation domain and process training and exposure to Innovation New Product Development (NPD) stage-gate processes quality systems and manufacturability practices.
Key Responsibilities
Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to Weirs zero-harm behaviors in support of the drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
Support design and development of new products through creation and modification of CAD models engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Assist in component and assembly optimisation using engineering tools and prescribed processes.
Participate in feasibility studies prototype builds testing and design validation activities.
Follow stage-gate and product development processes to ensure timely and structured execution of NPD projects.
Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including test reports validation protocols and design records.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing quality sourcing and application engineering to ensure manufacturability and compliance.
Contribute to innovation cost optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualification and Skills
Fresh graduate with Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Production Automobile Engineering or related engineering discipline
Applicants with a strong academic record (typically CGPA of 7.0 or above) are encouraged to apply
Technical Skills
Strong engineering fundamentals (design materials mechanics manufacturing processes)
Exposure to CAD tools (e.g. Creo SolidWorks NX or equivalent)
Basic understanding of product development lifecycle and engineering documentation
Familiarity with prototype development or academic design projects preferred
Behavioural Skills
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Teamwork balances team and individual responsibilities
Positive attitude flexible and adaptive to dynamic environments
