Degreed Technician

Summary:
The main function of a mechanical technician is to modify test and repair machinery and equipment under direction of engineering staff or physical scientists. A mechanical technician helps engineers design test and manufacture industrial machinery consumer products and other equipment.
Job Responsibilities:
Review and approve detail drawing or sketch for drafting room completion or to request parts fabrication by machine sheet or wood shops.
Approve project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications procedures and objectives and test nature of technical problems such as redesign.
Approve project instructions and specifications to identify modify and plan requirements fabrication assembly and testing.
Communicate changes in design method of manufacture and assembly and drafting techniques and procedures to staff and approve corrections.
Review and approve tool drawing designs by measuring drawing dimensions and comparing with original specifications for form and function using engineering skills.
Supervise tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate proposals for improving equipment performance.
Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.
Devise fabricate and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products such as industrial machinery or equipment and measuring instruments.

Previous experience with computer applications and design software related to engineering field.

Looking for dyno testing experience fabrication capability and troubleshooting / problem solving experience.
Engine development manual testing with calibration and hardware development.

5. Ensure scrap and non-conforming material is identified and set aside for processing.
COST: Utilize continuous improvement to identify and eliminate the 7 forms of waste.
1. Understand and support elimination of waste (COMMWIP) waste.
2. Aware of cost of supplies energy and parts for waste elimination.
3. Assist team accurate documenting of scrap and non-conforming material.
4. Participate in team CI objectives and BPD metrics.
5. Seek efficiency in all activities to reduce cost.
