DHC- General Hand

The role

As part of our Land & Integrated Systems group the General Hand will be a member of the JP2060 Support Maintenance Team and should be flexible and willing to perform a range of tasks. Youll need to be physically fit and able to carry out heavy lifting when required. The General Hand must be able to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions. Its important you can work as part of a team and follow directions closely

Further the successful candidate will:

• Assist Maintenance Manager and technicians in repairs and maintenance works on Deployable Health Equipment to a high standard
• Perform daily maintenance tasks as allocated by the Maintenance Manager
• Be able to carry out a risk assessment for required tasks and have input to creation of safe work method statement
• Demonstrated ability to understand extent of work required for a maintenance work request and work unsupervised for long periods during the day
• Attend relevant training courses as required to perform maintenance tasks in a safe manner
• Demonstrated ability to follow instructions given by Maintenance manager
• Perform routine maintenance tasks in a time efficient manner

Flexible work arrangements such as 9 day fortnight and part time (0.8 FTE minimum) will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

• Forklift Licence
• General knowledge of maintenance and repair practices and methods
• Ability to read plans sketches and maintenance work order requests
• Understanding and commitment to risk management procedures
• Understanding of and commitment to WHS principles
• Demonstrated ability to safely and competently operate and maintain plant and equipment.
• Experience with relevant civil works construction and maintenance for road signage.

As a defence security clearance is required for this role applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes including ITAR.
