Logan Health is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Staff Development Educator Medical & Surgical to support the growth competency and professional development of nursing staff within our inpatient medical-surgical this vital role you will design deliver and coordinate education that strengthens bedside practice for both Registered Nurses (RNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). Your work will directly impact staff confidence patient outcomes and the overall success of our Medical & Surgical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop implement and coordinate education programs that support safe high-quality Med/Surg patient care for both RNs and CNAs.
Provide onboarding orientation and education support for newly hired Med/Surg RNs and CNAs.
Support ongoing education for existing Med/Surg RNs and CNAs including refreshers skills development and practice updates.
Partner with Med/Surg nursing leadership to identify learning needs and create unit-based education plans that support RN and CNA workflows.
Develop and support competency validation processes including annual competencies and skills fairs for RNs and CNAs.
Create and deliver education that supports evidence-based practice and aligns with Logan Health policies standards and scope of practice expectations.
Support practice improvement initiatives through education coaching and real-time staff support on the unit.
Serve as a mentor coach and education resource for Med/Surg nursing staff including RN preceptors CNA mentors and charge nurses.
Maintain accurate documentation of education activities competency completion and required training records.
Utilize learning management systems and simulation/skills-based learning tools to support education delivery and track completion.
Support ad hoc projects related to nursing education staff development and clinical competency.
Experience:
5 years of clinical experience.
BSN or Masters Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
Active License:
Current Montana RN license or multi-state compact license with authorization to practice in Montana
Certifications:
BLS and ACLS courses preferred and are required within 6 months of hire.
Relevant certifications (nursing education or specialty certification) preferred.

Strong technical literacy including proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word Outlook PowerPoint Excel Teams) electronic medical records (EMRs) learning management systems and other relevant technologies.

Qualifications:
Current Montana RN license or a multi state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; required.
Education by Program Specific areas:
Continuing Education Program:
BSN required.
CNA Education Program:
Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) and Headmaster LLP clinical instructor status eligible and must be successfully approved by DPHHS within sixty (60) days of hire.

Program-Specific Job Duties
Academic Education Program
Serves as liaison between Academic Facilities overseeing clinical placements and orientation of students faculty residents and observers to LH.
Initiates and oversees HOSA partnerships with area High Schools oversees observers and coordinates events promoting recruitment into healthcare careers.
Leads preceptor program for student clinical and non-clinical staff including preceptor assignments and preceptor education.
Certified Nurse Aide (C N A) Education Program
Administers the written and skills exams in accordance with DPHHS/Headmaster requirements.
Clinical Education Program
Orients clinical staff to appropriate scopes and standards.
Develops specialty competencies; develops and operationalizes plan to validate competence of staff.
Maintains integrity of Preceptor model and all Preceptor Program components.
Continuing Education Program
Designs coordinates implements evaluates and documents clinical and non-clinical Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) programs that achieve objectives and maintains standards of care and performance aligned with LH key business initiatives.
Ensures all CNE programs meet applicable accreditation criteria as well as LH mission values and cultural initiatives.
Collaborates with Continuing Medical Education (CME) Coordinator on regional conferences and other LH activities.
Nurse Residency Program
Provides direct oversight of all nurse residents hired throughout the orientation period including but not limited to; overseeing the orientation schedule selecting preceptors and managing performance.
Oversees Program marketing application and interview process. Develops and facilitates all elements of the program curriculum.
Maintains integrity of Preceptor model and all Preceptor Program components.
Oversees all requirements and maintain ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Programs (PTAP) national accreditation.
Monitors and tracks outcomes related to program goals and communicates outcomes to program stakeholders.
Nursing Excellence Program
Oversees and facilitates Shared Governance program.
Functions as the Site Coordinator for NDNQI to include; data reporting data analysis and education.
Develops a coordinated effort for tracking of activities to ensure timelines are met for key initiatives based on gap analysis findings.
Provides leadership and direction to others through modeling a culture of excellence and identifying opportunities and initiatives to enhance excellence.
Functions as a coordinator for assigned projects. Identifies potential global design issues/barriers and coordinates solutions with others appropriately.
Oncology Nursing Development Program
Collaborates with Nursing Director of Oncology Clinical Development and leadership team for inpatient/outpatient oncology nursing adult/pediatric orientation education and competency evaluation activities. This includes all aspects of cancer care including; radiation surgery medical surgical survivorship symptom management and end of life care.
Develops delivers and tracks education and competencies based on oncology specific accreditations standards and quality metrics.
Maintains advocates and promotes attainment of oncology certifications as well as involvement with national oncology nursing professional organizations.
Professional Development Program
Provides direct oversight of New Hire Clinical Orientation collaborating closely with Nurse Residency and Clinical Educators.
Oversees and facilitates Preceptor Program for LH including policies training and recognition strategies.
Designs and coordinates implementation of organizational required education and Just In Time education.
Stroke Program
Oversees all requirements and maintains Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Center.
Completes concurrent and retrospective review of program data followed by accurate and timely abstraction to maintain the integrity of stroke databases.
Submits required data points and reports data to program team and stakeholders.
Training and Organization Development Program
Implements instructs and coordinates workplace violence program for organization in collaboration with other key leader stakeholders.
Develops and delivers team building activities/programs that drive organizational effectiveness leadership competencies and Emotional Intelligence initiatives.
Training Center Program
Coordinates and teaches BLS ALS PALS new and instructor courses in collaboration with Training Center Coordinator.
Provides 1:1 coaching for RQI answers employee questions and provides communication regarding RQI stakeholders.
Coordinates Mock Codes in collaboration with clinical educators in practices and LH departments.
Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.
