Logan Health Medical Center located in scenic Kalispell MT is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Staff Development Educator to support the growth competency and professional development of nursing staff within our inpatient Medical (Acute Care) & Surgical units!

In this vital role you will design deliver and coordinate education that strengthens bedside practice for both Registered Nurses (RNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). Your work will directly impact staff confidence patient outcomes and the overall success of our Medical & Surgical teams.

What youll be doing:

  • Partner with nursing leadership to support education priorities and professional development.

  • Play a key role in strengthening onboarding retention and competency across the nursing team.

  • Engage in meaningful work that directly supports bedside practice teamwork and patient safety.

  • Develop implement and coordinate education programs that support safe high-quality Med/Surg patient care for both RNs and CNAs.

  • Provide onboarding orientation and education support for newly hired Med/Surg RNs and CNAs.

  • Support ongoing education for existing Med/Surg RNs and CNAs including refreshers skills development and practice updates.

  • Partner with Med/Surg nursing leadership to identify learning needs and create unit-based education plans that support RN and CNA workflows.

  • Develop and support competency validation processes including annual competencies and skills fairs for RNs and CNAs.

  • Create and deliver education that supports evidence-based practice and aligns with Logan Health policies standards and scope of practice expectations.

  • Support practice improvement initiatives through education coaching and real-time staff support on the unit.

  • Serve as a mentor coach and education resource for Med/Surg nursing staff including RN preceptors CNA mentors and charge nurses.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of education activities competency completion and required training records.

  • Utilize learning management systems and simulation/skills-based learning tools to support education delivery and track completion.

  • Support ad hoc projects related to nursing education staff development and clinical competency.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of clinical nursing experience.

  • Minimum of three (3) years teaching and/or leadership experience preferred.

  • BSN or Masters Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

  • Current Montana RN license or multi-state compact license with authorization to practice in Montana

Certifications:

  • BLS and ACLS courses preferred and are required within 6 months of hire.

  • Relevant certifications (nursing education or specialty certification) preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong technical literacy including proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word Outlook PowerPoint Excel Teams) electronic medical records (EMRs) learning management systems and other relevant technologies.

  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong ability to educate coach and support RNs and CNAs across varying levels of experience.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple education priorities deadlines and competency requirements.

  • Exceptional communication collaboration and customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence clinical practice through education and support.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong organizational time management and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong ability to take initiative exercise independent judgment and make timely decisions.

  • Project management and planning abilities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with RNs CNAs and nursing leadership.

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong cross-functional collaboration across teams.

  • Detail-oriented with a proactive and solution-driven mindset.

  • Comfortable learning new technology.

Day Shift - Variable Hours (United States of America)

Schedule: Day Shift Variable Hours FullTime 36 Hours per week

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
