Summary
PS1 seeks part-time Production Assistants to work closely with members of the Program Production and Special Events staff to support and realize PS1s ambitious schedule of public programs live events performances talks openings private events and rentals. Working cross departmentally with the Program Production External Affairs Curatorial Operations and Visitor Engagement teams Production Assistants assist with the planning and execution of live events including: technical production; stage management; sourcing and fabricating materials; management of A/V equipment inventory and rentals; and hospitality artist and client support. Production Assistants are hired on a project-by-project part-time basis based on MoMA PS1s programming and event schedule and technical needs.


Supervision


Production Assistants report to the Senior Project Manager of Music Performance and Events and
External Affairs Events Manager and work closely with Program Production Coordinators.

Responsibilities
Please note: MoMA PS1 seeks a number of Production Assistants with a range of different skill sets.
Specific responsibilities will vary by event.


â Work closely with the Senior Project Manager of Music Performance and Events External
Affairs Events Manager and Program Production Coordinators to support the planning
organization and execution of MoMA PS1 live events including Warm Up Open House Night at
the Museum and other museum-wide performances special events and rentals.
â Provide on-site technical and production assistance for events including set up installation A/V
engineering stage management and hospitality for artists.
â Assist with coordination upkeep and organization of MoMA PS1s in-house technical and event
production inventory and storage.
â Assist with sourcing pick up load-in and load-out of technical gear and backline from
appropriate vendors.
â Provide on-site production assistance for events including event installation site preparation
vendor coordination stage management artist and talent hospitality and day-of-event
operations.
â Assist with rehearsal coordination and day-of-event logistics for artists performers and
collaborators.
â Provide audio engineering during openings talks and other special events and assist with
technical needs during onsite rehearsals with artists and collaborators.
â Sustain good working relationships with vendors and contractors.
â Attend production and planning meetings and site visits as necessary within the Program
Production department across other museum departments and with artists and event
participants.


Requirements:
â Minimum one-year experience successfully working in event production live arts programming or
related areas in a museum gallery theater entertainment or arts non-profit.
â Superior knowledge and hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
â Audio production including operating a digital professional live sound mixer as well as
digital audio workstation.
â Video production
â Lighting production/design as typically used in live performance and event production.
â Event installation production logistics vendor coordination artist and talent hospitality
and on-site event operations.
â Strong intrapersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.
â Ability to work productively and collaboratively with all levels of management support staff and
temporary hires and maintain a highly professional and positive attitude in a dynamic and creative
setting.
â Proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively multitask and meet deadlines in a
fast-paced environment with frequently changing deadlines and priorities.
â Ability to demonstrate exceptional resourcefulness creativity and flexibility; display good
judgment; problem-solve and take initiative; exercise tact and diplomacy at all times.
â Proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel Gmail Google Docs and other standard office procedures
and equipment.
â Knowledge of and interest in contemporary art and PS1 and its programming.
â Availability to work weekends and overtime hours.
â Must be able to work fully on-site at MoMA PS1; there is no remote or hybrid work option for this
position


Compensation and Benefits
This position is part-time and temporary; compensation is $30/hour
